Boat's not going anywhere and additional weight means more depth needed to float off the trailer, so I get it.
The whole video is unnerving to watch though.
Extremely disappointing that the Rivian navigation let you down on range estimation/charging guidance. Huge problem when road tripping. Seems like this should have come up in some of the professional reviews, but I don't recall hearing it.
I'm the guy that thinks a dirty black vehicle still looks better than most of the other stuff on the road. I've had multiple black vehicles and for the R1T I'm going Midnight.
First sentence of the review:
"Comparing the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning with the 2022 Rivian R1T makes little sense."
They labeled charging as a PRO for the Ford (even though it takes 10% longer to charge) and a CON for the Rivian? Tough crowd.
The results are that the Rivian hauls better, tows...
What a pain that you have to contact the manufacturer to use phone as a key. It's like Rivian didn't even think about this situation.
Edit - congrats on the Truck - let's see a pic!
Maybe in a few years Rivian will have centers to go and sit in, test drive, etc. Until then many (like myself) ordered the R1T objectively without as much as seeing it in person because there is nothing else like it. If they showed up with my truck and it pulled to the left or had a rattle, yeah...
Use it like a car. "Fill" it up (to whatever percentage you want/need) then drive the thing normally. When it gets low, plug it in. Easy. You don't NEED to leave it plugged in. You don't NEED to keep it below 80%. It's just recommended and pretty easy to follow.

Everyone should visit MOAB and try it out. If you don't wanna take your Rivian on it - you can rent or ride (but you should take your Rivian on it).
edit: @Joneholland would love to see your ZR2! That's my current truck too.
Seeing a Midnight on Forest Edge just sit there....I'd take it!
I REALLY want the All Terrain 34" tires on the 20" wheels, so I would need to change the 21s. But I think it would be worth the hassle - then I could experiment with aftermarket wheels/tires. Maybe go 35s :p
Q4 2025 at the earliest Motor Trend says. LOL
Would seriously consider a Rivian R1V if it were available and not $150k+ like these upfitted Sprinter vans go for.
Pretty neat - I saw an update hit my Model 3 last night but wasn't aware of the details. Glad the standard feature set keeps getting better fo' free! Gotta love that about Tesla and other EV brands that follow that model.
In general, I expect Rivian to follow the Tesla model, which means higher trim vehicles ship ahead of base models. There may be incentive for Rivian to prioritize dual motor/small pack configurations to reduce part usage and get more trucks delivered, but that is still unclear.
A Rivian showed up in my town just north of Charlotte. Coworker says, yeah a light blue one. I saw it today in different light, beautiful Limestone gray with black wheels ?
He saw in sun. I saw in shade. That's Limestone.
