I agree it probably doesn’t cost them very much but you can definitely “fill it up” without the need for an NACS adapter. Is it a nice-to-have? Absolutely. But a must have? No.

Later this month, Rivian will stop allocating a free NACS adaptor with a Rivian purchase.
THIS DOES NOT IMPACT ALREADY PURCHASED VINS! Current owners will still receive their adaptor by the end...
I like this concept. Make some SCs that are like the outposts at National Parks.
but that might not be cost effective for vehicle delivery or part delivery.
@SeaGeo and @CANCERDOC - thank you for sharing this info. Seriously!
I’ll keep testing it out and see if I get any better results. maybe the curve is a little sharper than I expected.
when the picture was taken, yes, I was at around 65% SOC. The vehicle (and any EV for that matter) does not slow the charge speed until just about 80% SOC so your point isn’t really valid here.
I do have the limit set to 100% and keep it there as I don’t see value in changing it. I just...
Final update (for now):
So, I pulled some very large strings and got the SC to finish the diagnostics today. The long and the short of it was “no issue found”
Quote from the service ticket
“Evaluated vehicle for charging related issues and the vehicle is performing as expected at this time...
your math ain't mathing.
If the first available appointment is 3 months out and then it sits for 2 weeks...just make the appointment for 3 months & 2 weeks from now! Done. Plain and simple. Don't expect the customer to be OK with their vehicle sitting on in the Service Center parking lot...
There are different triggers depending on the "mode" the event was captured in. There is what is considered an "Incident" which is the stuff like honking the horn, a collision, or hard breaking.
and then there is "Motion" which is when people are around the vehicles when you are stationary.
I am genuinely asking this question. I would love to know what the point of a service appointment is when they are just going to tell me that it is going to be "probably about 2 weeks" before they even roll it back into the shop.
I feel like I'm in a Seinfeld episode or something:
"I know why...
Oh no...this thread is quickly going to devolve into chaos!
Honestly, not having CarPlay is NOT that big of a deal. I've had my R1S for a month and have quickly gotten over it.
yeah, thankfully they’re covering the rental. I’m waiting for them to pick me up now so I’ll see what they give me.
update: it’s a “lovely” Chevy equinox ?
Update: dropping off at the Richmond Service Center today and they said it’d be probably two weeks before they even get it into the shop.
What’s the point of a service appointment if my vehicle is going to sit for 2 weeks before they touch it??
oh, and no loaner vehicles available so I have...
I believe there are several parameters for it to capture an incident.
It will capture any time that the horn is engaged.
I believe it will also capture when abrupt braking occurs.
and obviously, if the vehicle is involved in a collision.
