OC was free as an option for pre March 2022 Adventure Edition orders (like mine), while FE is a $2000 option. But in the R1 shop Launch Editions can be found with free FE (and 20"wheels). So that's what I ended up going with. Too good of a value vs waiting and paying way more for Max Pack with a...
Weird FE is included free on my LE R1T. Maybe they changed this for the S?
I could have saved another $1500 with same build but Launch Green, but I reeeeeally wanted Forest Green so was willing to pay for that.
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Everything Mathme said above.
I also went back and forth and researched this endlessly, until I realized how much less expensive 20" AT (get 275/60/20, not 65) tires would be, and more options, while probably matching the range of the 21s.
Once I figured that...
I just checked with my guide and he seems to think the removal of these 12v plugs is a permanent decision at this point. He says there has been no communication about them coming back.
Bummer. I'm going to have to figure out how to wire one myself.
OP/seller stepped up for me. I went ahead and ordered these. They should arrive just in time for when I'll be picking up my truck later in July.
Looking forward to testing them out. If I get at least 5% or 14 miles extra range I'll definitely consider it a win.
And then when I switch to AS...
Other than being less expensive, do you see any advantage to these Continentals over the Michelin Defender LTX m/s? The Michelins are #1 in consumer survey (vs #2), have a bit higher treadwear rating, and weigh 2 pounds less (so I assume more efficient).
Yeah I am wondering about that. But with electric motors efficiency I imagine this 3% "faster spinning" isn't as much of a factor, vs a gas engine power curve. And would likely be more than made up for by the reduced weight (rotational weight).
From what I can find, the 275/55/20 are the same...
I was a click away from ordering these just now, along with a full set of magnetic jack pucks, only to be hit with $33 shipping. Realizing free shipping may not apply to the pucks I removed them. Only to still have a $6.48 minimum shipping charge. Now I don't want to order on general principle...
So I know they might look a little weird, but has anyone thought about going even a size smaller? 275/55/20. This would be another 1" smaller overall so 32" instead of the stock 33 or 34. And the odometer etc would be off 3% even if calibrated for 33" (21"/22"").
My curiosity is about if this...
Agree it's frustrating to have to pay this, but I long since just accepted it was part of the vehicle cost. What annoys me is that over the last couple years that I've been waiting I've seen it inflate from I believe around $900 originally to maybe $1200 and now the current $1800. It's a sneaky...
Yeah the only thing that makes sense here besides gross incompetence (which I would assume isn't the case) is they are putting them in the shop on the chance that more get sold to recent buyers at current pricing (vs early low pricing orders).
I'm now facing a similar situation. Ideally I need to delay until later in the summer. Not sure how much luck I'm going to have with that now after reading this. So I'm nervous about possibly losing shop access if this one falls through.
Btw can I ask what vin you got? I'm 252xx
Very nice. Impressively light weight for the size. And aerodynamic. However I'll still be surprised if you don't take at least around 40% hit based on all the extensive towing reports/data I've seen.
