  1. Electrify America unveils Indoor Flagship Charging Station (opened Feb 9, 2024)

I live in SF and will likely never use this location but applaud the decision to install it anyway. I am fortunate enough to have a charger at home. Many people in the city don’t have that luxury. Take a look at PlugShare and you will see only 5 locations with speeds of >150kw within the city...
  2. What's your R2 predictions?

Full self driving! * * Coming s00n. Like this year. Probably. If not then next year for sure.
  3. Do I want the underbody shield?

My original reservation was configured with the shield just because it was bundled with the 20” wheels. That changed and I dropped the shield from my final config. I understood it to be valuable if you expect to be dragging the belly over rocks. But otherwise was unnecessary added weight. I...
  4. Rivian R2 pricing & production should qualify for $7500 tax credit

Yes and broader parts availability for independent shops and competent DIY owners to perform services that don’t require specialized knowledge and training.
  5. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

To clarify, the rankings you mention here are based on the rating system used by CR and their in-house reviewers. Which is different from the customer satisfaction rankings from actual owners of the vehicles summarized in the link at the start of this thread. The CR in-house ratings are...
  6. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

100% The regen is a great feature. I recall watching an interview with RJ a while back in which he was unapologetic about the regen and lack of a “creep mode” when your foot is off the brake. He basically said it’s an EV, it defeats the purpose to simulate the inefficiencies of an ICE vehicle...
  7. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

Agree with all these points. My take is that this is exactly why the R1T and R1S rank high in owner satisfaction than the CR ratings would suggest. Most owners move through the learning curve in a week or two thus making many of the CR criticisms irrelevant. I will say that CR is likely in the...
  8. Show us your Rivian vanity plates!

Nice! Not a vanity plate person myself but I have been thinking that a good one would be: 835 908

  10. Consumer Reports 10 Most Satisfying Cars and SUVs for 2023 -- R1T & R1S Both Make List

  11. Rivian BREAK IN caught on gear guard camera video

I find it incredibly satisfying that the local tv station cared enough to air the video and doubly impressive that that a neighboring PD cared enough to ID the suspect and follow up Here in San Francisco broken windows are so commonplace that investigative follow up and prosecution is...
  12. I’m on my 3rd rear drive unit…

Mine developed a subtle clunk when feathering the throttle at the "coast threshold". Gradually got more noticeable so I filed a service ticket. The service appointment for this plus the in-bed compressor not working is scheduled for the end of this month. The clunk is subtle enough that I am...
  13. OTA 2023.50.01 Software is Out! (w/ departure & preconditioning scheduling)!

This is exactly what I was hoping for. I have to back in to my rather narrow garage because of where the charger is mounted. The low speed throttle behavior has made it tricky to do this slowly and smoothly. My truck got the update yesterday, installed last night, looking forward to a smoother...
  14. What Do You Keep In Your Rivian for Recovery?

Thanks for the nudge to take stock of the gear that I somewhat randomly transferred to the R1T from my prior truck. Tire Change/Repair 4 ton bottle jack 1.8 ton scissor jack jack puck telescoping lug wrench Ram 2363 wheel with spare AT tire 2x6 blocks for a jack base 4-way inflation hose tire...
  15. Snow / ice chains on a quad R1T?

I bought a set of cables for compliance purposes. Found them on eBay for $100. If I ever actually install them I will be using a drive mode that allows for ride height to be set to high. https://peerlesschain.com/light-truck-tire-chain/super-z8 I fully expect this will be the fourth set of...
  16. Question for owners of 2+ Rivians

Maybe setting up separate iOS action shortcuts for each vehicle would help? https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/action-shortcuts-for-iphone-how-to.20892/ I don’t have two Rivians but I have noted that when setting up shortcuts you can select the vehicle from a drop down list. I assume...
  17. Review: From Tesla to Rivian R1S as a family vehicle

+1 for a stop at the Sacramento RAN on the SF to Truckee trip. I suspect I could make it on a 100% charge in the summer, but just barely. Much less stressful to just stop for a quick charge and coffee break. No problem at all to do the Truckee to SF trip on a single charge.
  18. Installed: EV Sportline R1000 wheels and Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 winter tires

I kind of figured that the physics of altering the direction of travel of a 7,000 pound object was going to mean less than optimal cornering in low-traction conditions. In normal driving it is so easy to forget how heavy these vehicles are. I'm hoping the 50/50 weight distribution makes for a...
  19. Installed: EV Sportline R1000 wheels and Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3 winter tires

Efficiency update after adding on a SF to Truckee round trip and a week of driving in cooler, but still mild, 30’s-40’s temps. The weather did not cooperate for a good test of snow and ice traction. Just one morning with an inch of wet snow. Pray for snow! ? ❄️
  20. Rivian acts of kindness - found matchbox on vehicle

Parade is a fitting description for the Lake Tahoe region. I passed, and waved to 8 other Rivians along highway 89 a couple days ago. And, there is a good chance I missed a couple.
