Looking at the map above, I probably did something like this looping back to Visalia. Kings Canyon was closed, but we did extra driving around the Hume Lake area and into the backcountry near Buck Rock Lookout. I think I vaguely remember having 20% left in my Quad Large on 20”.
21” wheels? What’s your usual max? I haven’t done that loop but did some overlanding in the Kings Canyon area. Make sure you factor in substantial elevation gain from the Central Valley floor up into the mountains.
Add me to the suddenly bricked truck via 12v death club. It’s inconvenient and I wish Rivian had a user/field fix for this since it can happen without warning. I was in super remote off-road country just two days prior
Last known SOC was 68% at 3:04am. Rivian believes replacing the 12v battery...
I’ve done Maple Springs to Santiago Peak and +1 recommend as a good first time trail with good views. I’d also say to air down, since someone asked. You’ll get over rocks easier and lessen a sharp rock puncturing a sidewall or something.
Good stuff, but what about pics of the park? I believe that’s the newest NP around and I get the sense it isn’t highly visited so hope you had a great time.
The one time I was in this situation I just put the panels in the rear seat floor area. They’ll “stand” vertically there. I had some cleaning towels in the trunk that I draped over the middle panels so they wouldn’t clank together too much. It wasn’t a big deal and I don’t even bother carrying...

I haven’t seen this posted yet, so adding for the folks interested in Pebble or similar propelled camper trailers (eg: Lightship). I’m currently under wifey trailer veto status, but you all enjoy…

We have FSD on our Model Y and other than amusing our kids at low speed around the neighborhood with the car under close supervision, I don’t see a realistic use case. We got in “cheap” when it was $5-6000 and obviously not worth it as using it on actual streets still seems dangerous. I even...
Could it be battery supply constraints and Tesla knew there would be an initial wave of people who would buy regardless? As supply improves, they can release larger battery options. (ie: same reason early max-pack was delayed… sorry if I’m re-opening wounds. lol)
For my second rock chip I didn’t get up to my buddy fast enough and it spread all the way up and down. The idea of trying my own resin fill immediately sounds good and I just bought a kit. I saw my buddy fill my first chip and although I’m sure experience matters, it’s not rocket science and I...
FWIW: My good buddy owns an auto glass shop and fixed my first starburst for me. I asked his opinion about Rivian glass quality and he said the upright windshield angle, similar to many trucks and SUVs, is usually the issue more so than differences in glass strength. He says that trucks and SUVs...
