I’m starting to think it is irrelevant whether humans are causing climate change. We have the tools to slow it down (I’m unsure if we could reverse or even stop it at this point, I think the consensus is it’s too late).
OK Timmy it’s not your fault, the milk carton tipped over on its own, let’s...
“In my own words: the climate has been changing since the earth was formed. It will continue to change, just as it always has”
That is true, and I have heard that statement made before as if it were the definitive description of our current situation. However, as has been pointed out a couple...
I had an almost exact “metal rubbing on metal or glass” noise to that one in the video but it was at variable speeds and dependent on wind. A bit of duct tape on top of the frunk hinge adjusting bolts (the only metal-on-metal contact I could find up there) made it go away.
with respect to the...
My gen1 t has an almost-ultrasonic screech at exactly 61 mph most of the time. Many people cannot hear it. I assume it’s some odd aerodynamic thing that could never be fixed outside a wind tunnel; maybe there are many slight variations of whatever part might be causing this?
I will just say, theoretically you can use the accelerator to get zero regen. But it is tough. Remember the first time you drove a Rivian, how hard it was to just creep forward a few inches to reach the mailbox or ATM? Even after lots of experience, it’s much harder to control on super slippery...
Definitely get a air hose. I thought the compressor would be a gimmick I would never use, but I use it all the time mostly for other people’s vehicles/trailers/camping equipment.
the original hose kit came with adapters to fill air mattresses, soccer balls, etc but the hose is so difficult to...
A stretchy cargo net is an awesome item I consider a must-have without a pickup canopy. I really don’t want to be the guy who loses a tote lid or empty soda can on the freeway. If you need to cover stuff with a tarp in the rain, cargo net to hold it down. So much faster to use than ratchet...
Did you connect the jumper pack to both the driver and passenger side battery positive terminals under the frunk? My understanding is that the batteries are not linked and jumping the primary only powers the drivers side. You could connect the jumper pack pack to the primary then one jumper...
Not too long ago, Chinese companies would make anything no matter what the environmental or social cost. A lot of Americans have a view colored by that not so distant past. Interestingly, Americans watched the fallout of that and have seemed to have learned only the lesson that “it made China a...
Also if you had to use the rear jumper leads to open the vehicle, those only go to the primary (left side) battery if you have an early Gen 1 with two batteries. You would need to connect the jumper pack to both batteries in order to get the right side latch to also activate.
Looking at the “installation manual” I would first go back to where you had to stick a wire into the existing harness and make sure that connection is solid; that method would not be my first choice for a permanent electrical connection.
Not a single mention yet of a guy influential in the government at the time the funding was killed who happens to own a private charging network with which the new, state-sponsored chargers would compete.
Maybe it’s corruption, maybe it’s my faraday hat (Rivian owners go a step above using...
With the many problems that somehow passed their new car inspections back in 22, what could have possibly been so wrong it didn’t pass their used car inspection? Or is it just that it’s basically a brand new 22 and their inspection process is now legitimate? I’m super curious, but we will...
I have no data to provide but my experience with buying tires is that the data only got me close, final decision seems to always end up being a combination of recommendations from people who’s experience I respect, my own experience with various manufacturers, and a final “gut-based” decision...
I too have an ability to “fix my own stuff” due to having been an auto technician in a previous career. There really isn’t much to maintain on a Rivian, and some repairs will be things that have obviously failed (dampers, door handles, tailgate, axles, disconnect etc) that Rivian currently won’t...
If it looks slippery the first thing I do in any vehicle is try to get in a place with a little bit of straight road and no other cars right next to or in front of me; then start hitting the brake to see exactly how much i can apply before it starts to slide. Then once it’s sliding i can figure...
