And why do some things switch on first touch (heated seats, temp) and others only select the item (headlights and wipers) ? Could there be some consistency across user interfaces?
I’d be super happy if text to voice actually shows up on gen1, since I finally got used to just enjoying the vehicle as is.
would be over the moon if Rivian could direct an intern to make a few screen buttons that would allow manual manipulation of things the software already does with respect...
If I don’t precondition they spike to 290 by the time I get back in the vehicle after plugging in. Once the battery hits something like 62 they cool back down almost instantly.
Not for fun, just when I have to.
Like when the power is out indefinitely, trees across disabled veteran neighbors driveway too technical for me to cut without accidentally crushing a couple cars, drove across 40 acres of submerged pasture to get to the steep muddy not-a-driveway covered with...
I’ll bet if something hits the emergency release button for the frunk, tunnel, or tailgate while driving it the vehicle will throw a fit. Have not tested it myself though.
Several local solar/battery installers have told me to not buy a backup house battery yet because Rivian is now claiming to have a V2H solution with a time line of “by 2nd quarter 2026”. I’m not sure how far to trust that timeline but I’m going to continue to use an extension cord (and a Jackery...
I know this post is helping this discussion drift off topic from the title but what about those new charging stations that connect to a giant battery they drop into a parking lot without trenching in new high voltage supply lines? Couldn’t those effectively charge multiple vehicles at an...
For getting it open for a car wash, or any service for that matter: turn off proximity locking so it’s just simply unlocked.
Or, if you need to leave it there for a while and it’s going to sit outside and need to be locked/unlocked, I keep a key fob in a faraday pouch (so the vehicle doesn’t...
I like this one simply because it made me recall my experience buying a Rivian. I was waiting for money to arrive in my bank account from stock sales while the car salesman was trying to unload the Rivian on me yesterday. He suggested get a car loan then pay that off next week. I agreed, then...
I live in a rural area with fairly low income, had many conversations with very skeptical folks when I showed up with a Rivian.
Nobody has ever mentioned price or what that means about my income (way below median, I sold stocks in February to buy a used one). But also people value their trucks...
“I can see the current iteration being useful on a rural two lane.”
I completely disagree. I have spent some time driving various “autopilot” type vehicle systems I. My home rural area, my take is they are useful only in situations where vectors are fairly predictable and reaction time is key...
After decades of always having a VAG car with a sunroof in the driveway I thought water leaks were gone from my life after buying Rivian. It’s disappointing to read this thread.
But there is a button to turn it off. I imagine there is an intern that could make those buttons and point them to the appropriate existing software areas. Every other car I have owned with traction control or regen had a way to turn them off, it can’t be super niche and difficult.
It doesn’t stay off. It would be great if the software could be redone to allow a mode that allows unlimited wheel slip while staying within the safety parameters of the motor. I guess I got on my high horse about it, thought about it some, then realized maybe it would take some extensive coding...
I’m only asking for a few things on the tuner, nothing that is limited by the “technical limitations of control of the Bosch motors “. Just some buttons to turn off software.
This whole “launch control” thing has me baffled. Back in 2010 there was a thriving aftermarket for clutch/rpm control software for my automated dry clutch m5. An EV with a few hundred hp per wheel should just be “stab and go”. Way more useful software tweaks would be traction control off and...
Why is the rad tuner only gen2?
I just want traction control off (traction control is active software, every car I have owned from 06 m5 to 15 volt have a simple way to disable it for specific situations, I don’t want to hear about “technical limitations of motor control with Bosch motors”)...
Resurrecting this old thread because I have been struggling with this lately. I have problems with fine motor control with my left hand, I can start a turn signal easily but it’s hard to turn it off.
I recently had a rental Tesla that made all that a thing of the past.
The Rivian has a switch...
