For being against your nature, you seem to make an awful lot of assumptions... (hours per shift, days worked, etc...).
Your point is true that they are ramping up (have been through Sept and will be through Oct), at peak capacity, they could crank out 25k rigs. However, none of us know where...
Solar beefs it up.
I didn't include that as we also use it for the general household.. hard to parse that out (and it was already in place before the Tesla came into the garage).
That said, I believe we are billed at 11 or 13 cents per KWh, so, even assuming a 2x or 3x it still smokes the ICE.
Agreed.
Your battery will try and keep itself at a somewhat "optimal" temp, this is why if you park an EV and leave it unplugged for too long, you are coming back to a brick (well, one of a few reasons, but a big one).
I think that is their fear and why they make it clear "unplugged" for the...
UI only... I mean, you can do it by hand... and then strip out the cute little motors/gears that mange those louvers...
I'm not a fan of this either (pun intended), as it seems a bit... over the top... and something that will eventually have an issue.
Yup, you will want to look into your local state laws on this.
Washington state for example does the calc in sales tax based on the sale amount after trade.
That said, I have NOOOOO IDEA what the whole direct sales thing does (when I bought my Tesla, they already had the carve out here in in WA).
I would honestly prefer this.
I don't want to get my truck and then have to bring it in (or have the Service Van Dude) have to tear my truck apart to replace/fix the tonneau or other quirks.
I want to take my truck, get the PPF and Ceramic done, and go have fun with it... not have to worry...
You are assuming they will "shut down the line" and not run 24x7.
My friends and contacts that work on the Jeep line have made it very clear, those lines never shut down, unless there is retooling, a chip shortage, a strike, or the vehicle is being throttled back (and even then they tend to mix...
Agreed.
Most "First Edition" launches tend to be 500-3,500 units (1,500 seems to be the norm).
No idea how that plays out with a Rivian R1T, but, I would be utterly shocked if they did more than 5k as LE's.
I will note, that while the rig does cost "a lot", it also saves a lot. I'll hold up my two vehicles as an example.
3-4 years of ownership, roughly the same mileage (around 60k).
Tesla X:
Maintenance and fuel: $1,050
Ram 1500:
Maintenance and fuel: $18,835 (approximate)
If the Rivian holds...
Solid video, and jives with what I've seen, heard, and experienced.
I will note, that Smittybilt is the V1. The V2 has a telescopic ladder (like the iKamper had), and moved from velcro to a zipper for the cover.
They made a few other tweaks as well (which is why it made it to the top of my...
I am old and never used AndroidAuto or AppleCar play. My Ram supports it (wired connection), but I just use the in car Nav and paired Spotify in there for tunes.
Same in my Tesla, I just use the in car Nav and the built in Spotify, InTune (mixed bag there), Streaming, and FM radio.
I totally...
I had a chance to check out a Kia EV6... that HUD is snazzy as well.
That said, I think it's a mixed bag, it could be super cool and very helpful, but at the same time, distracting and annoying.
I think, like all UI, it has to be both very carefully planned and executed AND made customizable...
Oooooh... solid point. I can't speak for every RTT out there, but I don't think any of them offer a 5 year warranty (I'd be happy to be wrong here).
Great points, and yeah, this is why I am looking into one, as we check those boxes. We no longer do the "pack it in" camping we used to when we...
I will note... look around for a used one first.
You can save (it seems) a pretty penny finding a good, gently used one off OfferUp or such.
I'm not so sure about dropping $2200-$2800 on one of these still.. $1200-$1500... I'd be way more comfortable with.
When I've played around with the RTT's, they setup way quicker (especially in adverse conditions). A friend has one and it's basically 3-4 minutes... regardless of sunshine, rain, wind, or "OMG I can't feel my fingers".
Really, the only part that takes any time is the little posts for the fly...
Slick!
...I'm kinda jelly.
My kayaks are hanging in my garage and basically consume the entirety of the ceiling in my garage. I wish I had space to set something like that up.
