I'm looking at one as well. We camp every year, and every year there are two big complaints from the family:
The blow up bed sucks/is not comfortable.
Putting up/tearing down the on ground tent can suck (especially if it's on a dirt pad or such as they seem to attract every particle of fine...
My brother in law has the V8 Hemi in his Ram, and has done... stuff... to it.
Requires Premium now, gets like... 6MPG (towing, it get's like 2GPM).
...sits in his drive way while he drives his motorcycle around.
I'm replacing two (yes 2!) vehicles with the R1T.
Both my X and my Ram 1500 will be heading off to new owners as the R1T will be tackling both of the needs that these currently cover:
Boat hauling duty
Yard waste/dump runs
Family grocery getter
Outdoorsy fun (camping, hiking, kayaking)
Doggy...
Or... again, the fact it will take 3-6 years to build, tool, train and bring online, and they expect to both be mass producing R1T's, R1S's, R1x, plus an inordinate number of delivery vehicles for Amazon AND other buyers.
But yeah, they could totally be doing it for a short term bump in their...
Looks like Tesla will go the "adapter" route (makes sense, costs less, reduces the turn around timeline, and gives them another product they could sell).
Tesla Tells Us How Opening Up Superchargers To All Brands Will Work | CleanTechnica
The choices (for this model) are 40 or 80 Amp.
As such I'd go 80 Amp just to future proof a bit.
Of course, this adapter doesn't work with Superchargers, so I'll probably save my pennies and wait for a SC compatible one (hopefully sooner than later).
...so much disappointment young padawan.
As for your comments on RJ's pay... Why? What do you care what he takes home as a base salary? What does that have to do with anything at all or why you should be disappointed in it?
The CEO of Microsoft made $1.5m until this last year... he's the head...
Keep in mind, the Transportation fee will apply, even from a factory delivery (as I understand it). It's a blanket fee applied to all trucks to offset the cost of delivery (peanut butter spread across all orders to account for those deliveries that cost $5k+ down to those that cost a couple...
Unless you are getting the Camp Kitchen, at this time, I don't see why folks would want to get the shuttle. Maybe once they roll out additional toys for it, but, unless you are getting the kitchen, I'm not sure I see the value in just getting the shuttle (at this time).
However, I would be...
Just the sound of a guy in a public bathroom stall nervously clearing his throat to let the guy that JUST came into the bathroom know, that yes... this stall is occupied... emanating from your R1T as it rolls down the road.
I'm not too concerned about using PreProd trucks for these events.
Sure, fit and finish will be "meh" but, let's be honest, most folks just want to play with the toys (smoosh the peddle down, go zoom, drive up the big hill, check out the seating and storage) and probably won't notice most of...
Honestly, this was one of those glorious moments that makes me chuckle with glee. When I read that article on this, I thought that was amazingly brilliant on the part of both parties.
I seriously hope that every tribe on every restricted or banned state is now reaching out to the EV...
