  1. Maximus drive unit for R2 / R3 / R3X - more specs & photos from RJ

Great quote! I took this photo yesterday, and I watched the movie last night.
  2. Jack pucks won’t fit bottle jack?

  3. Jack pucks won’t fit bottle jack?

Big horse with tiny rider equals small saddle.
  4. Rivian R3 wins Design of the Year in 2024 Top Gear Awards

I saw the R2 and R3 at the Denver showroom earlier this year. I ordered an R2 but would probably change it to an R3 if I had the option. I would like the R3 to have an over 1,000 hp option with smaller/lighter battery pack though.
  5. Cracked Windshield...Again...What a nightmare!

Does anyone know for sure what doesn't work if you don't recalibrate? Safelite can do my windshield here in Boulder, but not the calibration.
  6. Rivian Pikes Peak 2024 Feature: The Mountain Decides

Race teams never use a combo of gasses. A dry gas is a dry gas. Good old air is fine if it's dry. Nitrogen is used in race cars (and airliners) because it is dry, cheap, and doesn't support combustion. There is no advantage to nitrogen over dry air when it comes to performance of the tire. Tire...
  7. Bad day in Sedona -- R1S Recovery by Wild West Off-Road Recovery

I was surprised to to see the woman standing so close to the tow truck cables while they were under tension with the Rivian hanging off them. If one of them snapped she might not like it.
  8. O.K. Maybe I was showboating a little!

A guy starter a thread here some time ago about flooring it and watching his luggage fly out the back of his R1S onto the freeway. He claimed he had shut the tailgate doors properly, but that sounded suspicious to me.
  9. Tire rotation at Discount Tire?

That was the recommendation decades ago, but no longer. My Discount Tire here in Boulder moves the fronts from RF to RR and LF to LR but crosses the rears from RR to LR and LR to RF. There is evidence that reversing direction on the stock Rivian 20's helps minimize tire noise as the tires wear.
  10. On track to get 50-60k+ miles tread life from Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires!

If you are going to get 50K - 60K out of your tires, I have one thing to say to you: Drive harder than like you stole it! p.s. Nice write-up, thanks.
  11. New Electric Vehicle - Seaglider - Boat? Airplane? Both!

Vaporware. This will never, ever see production as presented here. The Icon, with its checkered past and this year's Chapter 11 filing, is a $400,000 toy. For some that works!
  12. Insurance traps to avoid for new R1S owners?

I'll have Progressive quote my other car and house too. We had a huge wildfire here a couple years ago though, it burned 1,000 homes, so that's a big factor.
  13. Insurance traps to avoid for new R1S owners?

Wow, I didn't know anyone could get insurance for that little. I'm fewer miles than that, and personal/pleasure. I guess I'll get a quote from Progressive tomorrow. I'm at $160/mo including glass with State Farm.
  14. If you work at a SC - remember that Gary is watching

If you had said, "peeing behind the seats" I would say turn him in. But behind the truck? Meh.
  15. Tire Change - Forgot to do AT / Highest

Discount Tire in Boulder knows what's up. They have pucks, and special jacks for the overweight Rivian.
  16. Anyone missing their moose? :)

What a beauty! I had one walk down my alley last summer her in Boulder. At first glance through the trees I thought it was a horse. A big horse!
  17. Pikes Peak R1T Refresh / Facelift Model Spotted!

I don't know, surely not a refresh reduction though, that doesn't sound feasible.
  18. Pikes Peak R1T Refresh / Facelift Model Spotted!

Speed limit much higher. Horsepower much higher (well over 1,000). Massive weight reduction of over 10%. Increased brake cooling as last year brakes overheated, glowed red, and cracked. Big problems right now with overheating and going into reduced battery output mode. A lot of engineering/mods...
