There was a problem with the way they were packaged for shipping. They were not adequately protected by the cardboard box and an unacceptable amount of them were being damaged in transit. They’re reconfiguring that so they stop destroying the limited stock they have.
Tires usually have a load/inflation chart you can reference. Divide your total vehicle+load weight by 4 to get per-tire load (assuming an even 50/50 loading front to rear, which is the best you can really do without wheel scales).
I ordered the wheels from this thread (https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/threads/ordered-new-20%E2%80%9D-wheel-with-48mm-offset-from-tirerack.19135/) from Tirerack. The downside is that they’re backordered and won’t be here until around Christmas. There is a cheaper TPMS option in that thread too.
I’m in the same boat here for the Seattle to Snoqualmie & Whistler runs this winter (I had a scare last winter on the ATs coming down from Whistler). I don’t have the tires yet, but my research led me to the same tire (Hakka LT3s). I’ve read quite a few good reports of them, and it sounds like...
Any chance the lock core was in the unlocked position and you jammed the wrong key in there? The Thule key you used might have behaved like a Yakima control key.
The Rivian crossbars use Yakima SKS lock cores (and keys) which are not compatible with anything Thule lock-related.
Any reason these wheels wouldn’t be a good match for Nokian Hakka LT3s? https://simpletire.com/brands/nokian-tires/hakkapeliitta-lt-3#v=1&tireSize=lt275-65r-20
To be clear, the spec sheet indicates the alternate version is for Europe/China which is 220V 50Hz and not the same as US-spec 240V 60 Hz. It would also not generate a neutral reference needed for US 120V split-phase output.
Awesome, thanks for this! It answers two key questions (with positive answers:
1. Does the 120V inverter draw HV DC straight from the battery, or does it draw (and is thus limited by) 12V from the DC-DC converter?
2. Is it easily accessible and unitized in a way that it could be easily...
Not at all, it works fine. The only new wrinkle is I started carrying a couple mountain bikes on upright racks over the bed so I have to have the box offset to one side and the bikes offset to the other side because the bikes stick up higher than the roof. I have a SkinnyWarrior on the other...
The full range of drive modes are not available in the dual motor- in particular the Off-road modes. That seems significant. Details at https://rivian.com/support/article/what-are-the-differences-between-dual-motor-awd-performance-dual-motor-awd-and-q
RIVN had another good day, hopefully we’re finally at an inflection point where EV stocks performance starts to become decoupled from each other. Rivian is the only EV startup in a position of strength and the market needs to stop punishing them for the floundering of others.
This is where things get interesting, as heat pump technology is rapidly evolving today after being pretty stagnant for a decade or two. On the structural HVAC side, there are a number of innovative heat pump designs just starting to come to market that use some refrigerant options that have not...
Smaller more efficient EVs with much smaller batteries have a much greater benefit from heat pump efficiency- as the vehicle gets more efficient (like a truck) with a much larger battery you get diminishing returns on switching to a heat pump along with greater cost and complexity. Additionally...
I’m pretty curious what the rethink entails. I had the kitchen on my order which was scrubbed when I took delivery and I was pretty bummed. After a year and a half of having my R1T, I’ve realized that with the way I camp and use the truck I don’t actually want the Gear Tunnel occupied by the...
