I have the Pivot with the NV 2.0 and it works great, and doesn’t even flinch with a couple e-bikes on it. My newest ride is a Trek Rail 7, eMTBs are a f’ing blast!
Have you had a chance to tow this with your R1T yet? We’re considering one as it looks like a great fit for our family and should theoretically be pretty efficient to tow. I’m super curious what real-world consumption looks like.
I would be mildly concerned, EVs need to be able to shed heat for battery management and if the ambient temperature in the garage is hot and cannot shed the heat then the R1T’s cooling system will not safely and adequately cool the battery. You might look into a temperature-activated...
Once a month is still good advice, they really don’t see much activity at all with normal driving and regen. You’ll have better results getting into the brakes if you put the truck into Snow Mode first since it has the lowest regen of all.
Without having an electrical inspector review the whole works it’s tough to say, but at minimum I’d be asking these questions:
- What is the electric service rated at, and where are the overcurrent protection devices (OPD, or circuit breakers) that protect from exceeding that?
- What are the bus...
“It’s not code but it’s fine” ?? Do you know who the author of the National Electrical Code is? The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA, firefighters)
Holy crap, you need to nope the f$&k out of there and get an electrician on-site today to fix that! If your house burns down, you now have knowledge and documentation of the hazard that caused it and could get an insurance denial.
In the meantime, shut off the hot tub and everything in that...
At best your electrical situation is not straightforward and way more complex than it need to be, at worst it’s a shitshow of code violations and fire hazards. You need to hire a good electrician to nail it down before proceeding. You likely can accommodate an EVSE (perhaps at a lower amperage...
The only fossil fuels we have left in our house is the propane bbq grill. EVERYTHING else is electric, powered by the solar on the roof and our hydroelectric utility!
