If they identify locations and start applying for permits now they might even get one open in the next 18-24 months. Hard to to see them getting these built out in any large quantity on that timeline.
Speaking of charging, it's almost January, and still, nothing about the cost for connectivity unless I missed an email, didn't they say the free ride was ending 1/1/24?
You hit on exactly what I love about the R1T, there's so much space. Dog in the back, two of us in the front, and no gear inside. I've been able to get our camping gear + equipment for scout troop all secured between bed, tunnel and frunk with room left over. I've thought a bit about the R1S...
I'm on windshield # 3 currently and luckily Safelite was able to patch the chip in the current one before it spread further. Rivian's replaced both times and they've been able to flex their schedule on both occasions due to the location of the crack(s), and the fact that it kept spreading so...
I've noticed after updates and reboots that the screen menus seem to lag about 2-4 seconds pretty consistently. Swapping to one I haven't used recently always has some delay, almost like that function is sleeping until it's requested.
Mine has been generally bad, my favorite example and one that's sadly still valid is if I punch in a search for Costco which is 3 miles away, it defaults to trying to send me to the store that's 20 miles away.
So far my best use case for Rivian navigation has been when I need to go to a DC...
I'm a bit past 20,000 as well, 99% of that is in all-purpose and should get close to 30,000 miles on this set. Still pondering a switch to 20" wheels just to have more tire options but not sure if the extra cost is really worth it.
That hits close to home.... first road trip down to CA, stopped about 3.5 hours in, just south of Portland to charge, left the dog in the truck for 20 minutes and came back to find ?all over the back seat. Luckily for me, the seat cover took the brunt of the damage and there happened to be a...
IMO not worth it for Hotspot, I can get that off my phone at no cost and stream media from the phone like I do today. I'm assuming that if you don't pay for it, the streaming services stop working but GPS, OTA updates, and remote access via the app still work similar to Tesla.
If it's $100 for...
I normally use BT, but when I use the onboard options it's always Tidal. The only issue I have constantly is if I'm listening to a track and park the car then come back it will be frozen. The Play controls are grayed out until I pick any other album or song in a playlist. No idea why the...
I got my R1T in June of 2022 since then I've driven 20,000 miles
2 x windshield replacements, small chips that turned into large cracks.
1 DCFC issue, only really worrisome due to ~20 miles of range left, solved with a hard reboot
LTE/WiFi module failure - This one was a pain in the ass not...
I agree but I will say in their defense that at least in Seattle, the space they're using is a pop-up only, for 3-4 months, and was until recently an Amazon bookstore. So they probably got a really good deal on a short-term lease in exchange for prime space in a higher-end retail area...
I'd trade the speaker for a lockable drawer in a heartbeat. Every time I've tried to use it there's some version of won't turn on, requires multiple power cycles, has to be deleted and paired with my phone or similar. Meanwhile, the JBL speaker just works the first time, every time so that's...
That's great to hear, having to wait months for service isn't optimal though they have been pretty good about working in appointments quicker if space frees up.
Here's the email they sent the other day.
Rivian is initiating a customer satisfaction campaign for some model year 2022 R1S and R1T vehicles that may have been built with inadequate interference between the halfshaft splines and the wheel hubs.
This notice applies to your vehicle, VIN: My VIN...
I got an email from them about the recall for the half shafts, called to schedule. October 25th was the first option.
Really hope they can get a larger service center open somewhere. Really feels like they outsold their capacity in the Seattle area.
