Unfortunately it didn’t work when I was away from home. I was able to lock unlock with my phone turned off, but I wasn’t able to start up the car.

I was just able to start up and drive the car from my garage with only the watch. I wouldn’t trust it by itself yet moving forward, but it is pretty awesome.

I have the same issue when I try to secure the lower bar of bikes. 3 of the bikes we have work great by strapping up the second bar that is higher up. One of my bikes has too much separation to reach, so I fold up a hand towel and put it over the lower bar. It’s not ideally but works.
