100k car but heater, heated seats and steering does not work

It's enough for PNW. I hate not being able to turn off AC like ICE cars though. I don't want like my cars smelling musty like an old cab. I have to use some BS tricks to dry the coils once a few days.

Care to share your tricks?

I'm naive here, but wouldn't keeping the a/c on keep everything drier, and less musty?

AC keeps everything dry, but coils stay wet.

It's straight forward in summer. Set fan to max in fresh air mode and turn off AC 5 minutes before reaching home and I can do that on most days. Make sure the HVAC is in fresh air mode.

In winter, that doesn't work because of humidity and cold weather. Ac Coil will not dry. Instead, I turn off the ac/heat 5 minutes before and, put it in recirculation mode and fan on high. Now this usually fogs up windows and I have to open windows slightly or do this in garage. Use the seat heater not to freeze ?. I do this less often in winter.

All this is especially important if car will sit for a day or more. My car did start smelling and it seems to be better better with these steps.

I suspect that your vehicle is working as designed.

It was built in Illinois, but designed in California. I'm sure it works great if you live in a mild Mediterranean climate but both the heat and the AC struggle to keep up if you live in a place that experiences significantly warmer or cooler temperatures than what those Las Angeles designers are used to.

The only thing I have found to make it bearable on a cold morning is to turn the heat on 30-60 minutes before you plan to leave.

Doesn't sound normal. My 23R1T the heated seats on level 3 and the wheel are extremely warm, almost too warm. No other HVAC issues whether heating or cooling or degog/defrost and I'm in CO with hot summers and cold mountain winters. I also park inside daily so that may make a difference.

Steering wheel should be hotter, can barely tell it’s working. Hopefully they can fix with an update. I have a Ram truck and it gets so hot I have to turn it off, which is great. Rivian needs to change program.

What you're describing doesn't seem normal, @mmcool.

Our climate control works well. Defrost is sometimes overkill, but always does the job. Heated steering wheel and heated seats take a few minutes to warm up, but then are nice and toasty without being uncomfortably hot.

Call 855-RIVIAN-5 to report and to get into the repair queue. Remember that replicating the problem may be difficult for service staff, so be as specific as you can.

I have had occasional issues but usually the fix has been settings. If you are using dual temp controls say 68 deg left and 75 right or back, it tries to satisfy the average temp and no one is happy. could help if you do use dual temps to keep them within a few degrees.

Morning temps in my area have been in the 30s and everything works fine. Heater, seats, steering wheel all are nice and toasty. I dont even pre-heat the cabin. IMHO your car does not sound normal. All the best.

My experience with 2022 R1T
- temp around 72-74
-auto (leave back vents on, if I turn off back vents, fronts get cold)
Occasionally have to turn off and on if not warm.

Same…there is a software bug that requires you to have the rear vents (either upper, lower or both), to get the front to engage warm/hot air.

You need to do a full reset, and if that doesn't fix it call service.

Weird you mention.... My stuff works fine, but driver seat only won't turn on in app.

All other seats and steering wheel will heat, just not the drivers seat.
