2023 R1S - center console silver trim piece "peeling"?

Hi all

Been super happy with the R1S.

Few issues - one came up a few weeks ago

The trim piece in the center console is "pealing"

Any one else seen this in their vehicles?

Yes, I had mine wearing off on the door handle rear passenger door. Mine wasn't covered by warranty, but they were able to replace the trim only for a reasonable amount. Yours, however, seems like a defect and may be covered by warranty. I'm not sure if they can replace the trim only with the console.

There are a few threads here discussing similar issues on the console, doors and steering wheel. It's also been seen on other non-Rivian vehicles. There are strong indications that some sunscreens, hand lotions, etc. can act as a solvent and cause bubbling/loss of adhesion of the color coat. Early on people report Rivian replacing under warranty. Later reports are that it was denied as a warranty issue.

Mind if I ask how much that set you back? My driver door trim is flaking and starting to get annoying when I rest my arm on it or grab the handle.

I'm pretty sure mine wasn't warrantied because it looked more like wear than peeling or bubbling...

Happened on our R1T. Silver trim was bubbling and peeling. Rivian replaced the trim under warranty. No issues since.
