I don't believe Rivian has followed the typical Auto industry of new model year in the August timeframe as of yet. I would imagine LIDAR is coming to the R1 when it hits the R2 at the end of the year. The new steering wheel maybe but not 100% convinced of that one yet.

The changes to the OS can be done with a OTA.

My guess is ‘27 is a quiet year for R1 where we’ll see one new color option, and a Dune-like special edition mid year to get us to ‘28.

I would love to have massaging seats and heads up display. Other EVs (e.g. Cadillac) have these options and I feel by Rivian adding those it should be able to win over a segment looking for some luxury features

Feel like from a supplier standpoint, switching to the new steering wheel would standardize costs somewhat. And also make the "driver experience" when going between models more uniform. Other than that... a new paint color maybe? 🤷
