Given your user name I would have expected free with solar to be included. I liked that they included the fact that you do not have to fill to 100% on the road if you have a cheaper alternative ahead. On our last towing trip we had a bad EA charger on the way to our camp and only partially charged (~$5) then charged at the campground every day for the extra $10 for 50a service. On the way back we had a good EA charger so I charged to 85% even though we didn't need the range and while cheap was still like ~$30. However probably we could have stopped early and paid less then charged at home for free.
That's the advantage of a large battery. You can reduce/postpone public charging. Costs less. Less stress on the battery as well and longer longevity.

Not to mention faster charging because you can easily stay in the sweet range under 70% on regular road trips for the faster charge rates. Not all about the range but over all utility.

Envious of the charging speed. Like to see the whole curve
Thus far the ultium charging curves, particularly the big pack ones, suck. The biggest benefit with the 800v versions they have is if you can stay in the lower half of the pack.

232 miles...fine. But if I want to tow a trailer around on multi day trips, I would still probably buy an ICE.

I'm assuming this is the same pack as in the hummer. Don't remember seeing the hummer hit that high. Wonder if GM is being overly cautious until they get more data and then open up the curve. Probably years away at their current pace.

It is the same or very similar. Kyle was able to get the hummer up to 360kw or something like that.

I'm surprised this has not been posted yet here. A very impressive result. I wonder how far the R1T+max pack will go in that test,
Likely 150 miles with a little buffer.
Oh look, an electric truck that actually did a legit "max" battery....
But takes a hit on payload, tow capacity & likely stoping distance & tread wear. Fast charging time is great though, but excessively long when charging at home.
A combo of a slightly more energy dense battery and more available charging infrastructure and the problem is solved.
Add in faster charging speed as well.

There is the items you mentioned however a larger battery costs more to buy, charge, replace, propel not to mention additional tread wear & much longer home charging time.

I have an early SEV reservation and will very likely pull-the-trigger when offered the chance. I know it won't have the luxury of the Rivian (since I'm getting the WT, not the RST). Really want that extra capacity for towing the adventure trailer. Did a long-haul with the R1S and while it can be done it gets mind-numbing to have to stop for recharging in under 100 miles over & over & over again.

So what miles/kwh does this translate into?

More battery is possibly more range, but without better efficiency, it’s really just a bigger gas tank in the car, not better engineering.
A gas tank that never gets lighter. Not to mention more battery means worse handling and braking with increased tire wear and worse range efficiency. It seems to me that for purposes of long distance towing a small range extending diesel hybrid would be the best option.

PR stunt. I'm telling you, folks who really need/use these kinds of trucks for hauling and working (like ranchers, builders) are not going to pay up for these EV trucks, let alone have the hassle factor of trying to charge them that'll take ages (and mostly with no pull thru for a trailer).

Forget it for now. It's ICE all the way for this sort of work. At least Rivian markets their R1T as an adventure vehicle because I wouldn't use it for any kind of hauling.

Chevy should be cranking these out at like 5 a year with their current battery production! That pack is ridiculous.
