Has anybody been able to test of 285/55 R22 on the R1T to see if they have enough clearance or if they rub? I have seen people with 285/50 R22 on ATs, but not seen anything other then it being mentioned here on the forum and the tire spreadsheet...

My hope for you is that the installing organization gives you the 30 day test ride. The only truth is in a good drive around.

Does anybody do that? Why do you think that is needed?

I think the last time I was in a Firestone Dealership, they said something to the effect that is there is an issue, don't like the ride etc....

The diameter is almost 1.5 bigger and almost.5 inches wider. For some rides, this is big, others, not a worries.

275/50R22 tires
diameter of 32.9"
width of 10.8"
wheel 22"
sidewall 5.4"
Circum 103.3"

285/55R22 Tire Size in Inches
Diameter 34.4"
Width 11.2"
Wheel 22"
Sidewall 6.2"
Circum 108"

Personally, I like the bigger tires. Let me know how it works outs.

.75" height/clearance add, you gotta look at radius.

And width delta depends on offset for the wheels they are paired with.

<Insert ex-wife's "disappointed" phallic joke here>

Has anyone been able to confirm if 285/55R22 fit without rub? Thanks!
285/55R/22 Fit.

A couple of Notes after having them on for 10k+ Miles.

Standard or higher Suspension setting - has absolute not rubbing.
Low - if going 85+ MPH have found a few rare instances where a bad bump from a bridge transition or other rubs for a brief millisecond, but nothing real noticeable visually.
Lowest - around town and smooth roads is fine, wouldn't recommend leaving it on this setting unless you know the road is smooth above 50MPH. So a 0-60 from a light is fine LOL.

Additionally, recently the Kneel Option has somewhat been changed to take longer to deactivate and return into "Standard" and if you have a steep driveway or Curb to get over ... you got to remember moving it over that slowly or manually setting the suspension higher as I've heard it rub a bit before.

Awesome, thanks so much for the info! Do you happen to have a picture of the tires on your ride? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for sharing this information.
I’m interested myself in getting the 285/55/22 for my R1S.

Could anyone please provide an update with their experience over time with the Toyo 285/55? Did these tires hold up? Are they loud or quite compared to other AT options in 22”?

I’m not a mile counter when it comes to range, but has anyone noticed any significant range decrease when comparing the 285/55 to 275/50?

Are the Toyo Open Country a recommend AT tire for the R1S, or are there better options? Any reasons not to go with 285/55 besides the rare minor rubbing? (I don’t have the performance package, so can’t go ultra low)

thank you

Still happy with them around 20k miles. To your questions:

They are quiet. Range… yes less range… how much… not really sure as I also tow and haul things around on my bed rack.

I would probably go with 50’s but that’s just because the rubbing “think about” is annoying when I do want to go into sport.

When it’s wet they are a bit too slippery IMO but make up for it off road and on road for sure.

I will probably try out the Nittos next but it will be a while, the Toyos still got plenty of tread.

Thank you for your reply, information, and opinion.

The "slippery when wet" comment would be a deal breaker for me. I live in the PNW and looking for an AT tire that will also do well on wet roads. Maybe the Nittos are a better option?
