We finally took delivery of our R1S on Saturday before our early pricing expired. There was a lot of uncertainty and anxiety around the delivery the week leading up to it since our vin was changed twice due to vehicles that wouldn't make it to the Denver service center in time, after having locked in a vehicle from the shop a few weeks earlier and having it sit at the factory. We could only take delivery on Saturday since we had to drive from Grand Junction (4 hour, 250 mile drive). The actual delivery was smooth and we had them charge it to 100% for the drive home. It was 260 miles home, mostly on I70 over mountain passes and we still had 31% left when we arrived with 2.6 mpk efficiency. I kept up or went faster than traffic in standard height, so I was pretty impressed with the efficiency. Overall we are really enjoying it!
Update:
We took a trip up onto the Grand Mesa yesterday to view the fall colors, and again after 125 miles going from 4500 to 10,800 feet and back the efficiency was 2.6. I'll be testing out towing our camper soon to see what that efficiency/range is.
I'm really surprised how close in height the R1S in highest mode is to my 4runner on 37" tires. I did have to work hard to keep the 4runner low when I swapped the front axle in.
