Well, heck. It is very robust, though. Not like the cheap $15 ones.
True, but there is a reason Hubble is the most highly recommended option. Plus, Hubble is made in the USA, while Leviton is made in China.

The temperature rating isn't nearly as important as the terminal quality. This one was rated for 75C.

It used standard Phillips screws which limited how much torque you could put on them without the driver camming out. I leaned on them and tightened them down as hard as I could, but they still heat cycled themselves loose after 2 1/2 years.

The hex socket screws on the EV-rated receptacle let you put a torque wrench on them:

They're supposed to be torqued to 75 inch pounds which doesn't sound like much, but you really can't get a lot of torque out of a screwdriver.

The Tesla is outside and I wish it had a feature to only allow authorized vehicles. It has that feature for authorized Tesla vehicles only.
Assuming that authorized people would also have access to the circuit breaker that powers the tesla charger, you could just turn it off when you aren't using it.

Tesla collects the VIN from Tesla vehicles. I assume the issue is with other makes of vehicles not providing this communication.

When I got my RIvian over a year ago, I ignored the advice of this forum and went for one of the cheaper L2 chargers I could find; I think I paid about $90 for it. It technically worked, but it frequently had communications issues with the truck, especially after plugging it in after a DCFC session. I decided to just used the Rivian supplied L2 charger for home, and that knock-off is now relegated to the R1T's storage bunker as a traveling emergency unit.

I think if I had to do it over again, I would have just shelled out the $400 for the Rivian model and been done with it

I see wall chargers for $200ish bucks. They look nice but rivian chargers are 5 to 700 bucks. Are they that much better?
Hi, you will want a wall charger that has an app, scheduling ability and solid communication with your vehicle. We have had two ChargePoints and both lasted five years. You want a solid construction of the base and cord to mount on your wall. Finally make sure they are certified and reputable.
