My son in Cub Scouts decided that our R1S in Rivian blue was "cool" (who am I to argue) and he wanted to make that his pinewood derby car this year.
This is what he built. He did pretty much all of it himself. The only things I helped him with was giving him the idea to glue two standard kit blocks together (because he wanted it to be proportionally taller than a normal pinewood derby car, to look more accurate), and helping him get the decals printed. He did the design/tracing, sanding, took reference photos, got his grandma's art paint pens to do the detail work...I think it turned out pretty good!
"I'm not going for speed this year dad, I just want it to look cool." Amen, son.
And in the theme of "Art imitates life"... it was too heavy per the rules, I had drill out some weight from the bottom.
