8ft lumber fits in R1S

I hadn’t seen any photos or confirmation that 8ft lumber would fit inside the R1S without leaving the back open, but I discovered it works! These are only 1x2’s but any 2x lumber of 8ft length should fit. I didn’t even need to move the front seat forward. Hope this helps anyone else planning a Home Depot run!

We put ours over the center console with a wad of towels below it.

10 footers fit too. Although they are uncomfortably close to the screen if you want the hatch closed.

Screen protecter and open hatch. Wonders of package foam material. Used that wood to make my 200 year old doors have a proper frame. Here is a working man's truck..........

I bought a black 4x6 HD packing blanket like that too. Seems to be the best solution when hauling things. Easy to pull out and clean as well as store away in the cubby. I filled up the whole back with two layers of fire wood recently to take to our cabin.

I like that foam over the lower hatch. I had to use this bed extender in my last truck when getting lumber longer than 10’, but the R1S has so much more capacity
