Honestly, I’m not thinking about this problem in terms of an ICEV or any other way. I really have no idea how this will work out, nor do I have any expertise on this matter. I have no answers regarding this, but, as an R1S preorder holder, I sure do have a lot of questions ? Maybe I missed them, but I haven’t seen any threads dealing with this issue. These cars are not all going to end up in the junkyard in 10 years. Many will be on the road for years and years and, for some, I assume the battery may become the limiting factor.I think you are thinking about the problem like an ICE vehicle
So, here’s another question - if these are really just computers on wheels, what happens when their systems become unsupported by the latest software updates. I’ve owned a wide variety of computers, smart phones, you name it, from almost every major company - mostly Apple for the last 15+ years, however. There comes a time, with all these devices, when they or their operating systems are no longer relevant, supported, or even secure. What happens when this occurs with our computers on wheels? I have a 1999 vehicle that still is quite functional. I have an 8 year old Toyota FJ that could go on for many years. By smart phone standards, even the FJ would be dead in the water by now, IF it was merely a computer on wheels.
Oh, yeah. How about privacy issues when your car is always online? Anyway, just more questions , with no answer here ? Any knowledgeable incites are always appreciated. Thanks
