Hi. Our r1s has 7700 miles with the 22 inch wheels. I was just told our tires are at 6/32 front and 5 /32 rear and will need replacement soon. That seems hard to believe with only 7700 miles. What measurement are people replacing their 22jn tires? And how many miles are you getting? Ours were rotated recently at the Rivian service center and no mention was made of them needing replacement.
What tires are people replacing the factory 22 inch with? I normally would just order the oem, but was told that they have no tread life warranty so in this case I’m thinking of ordering the Michelins that have a 50k tread wear warranty.

advise please on all of the above and thanks

Hopefully someone give the measurements of a new 22" Scorpion tire? I thought it was 9/32 new.

I’m just about to pass 14k and I also have the 22” wheels and my tires are wearing all uneven. I also have a really bad vibration at higher speeds that can be felt throughout the whole vehicle. I’m at the below according to discount tire.

DF 7/32
DR 6/32
PF 4/32
PR: 5/32

I don’t get how it’s wearing like this when I had the alignment and tire balance checked twice. I’m honestly done at this point and will be getting new tires asap. I’m looking at the new Michelins but don’t know which one to get. The 115H XL or the E1 119S.

I just made the choice to go with 22's instead of 20's for my new R1T. I am mostly city driving and this uneven wear is definitely a concern. Is this a known problem? Are there alignment issues?

Have 21" and 20" wheel sets. Best advice I got was to drive at "normal" height vice "auto". First rotation at 6,000 on the 21" when I used auto and racked probably half the miles on highway in low conserve or all purpose, saw uneven wear within and between tires when I rotated.

When I swapped out to the winter set around 11,000 miles, tires were back to normal wear between and within the tires as I had locked heigh to "normal".

I have close to 19K on the 22's with 5/32 left on all tires. I just ordered Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 XL in the same, 275/50/22 from Discount Tire. Appointment to install it on Thursday. These have a 70K mile warranty, so thought, just go ahead and put them on.

Is that the version recommended for our Rivian’s? What’s the difference between XL 115H and E1 Michelin? I see the tread is 14/32 with E1 119S but it only comes with 50k mile warranty plus they cost so much more.

I'm not a tire expert, but from what I've read, these are some of the differences. Firstly, R1T's have shipped with XL & HL load-rated tires. These are typically a 4 ply tire that generally have a max. pressure of 50 lbs. E1 spec, the other option Michelin is offering a also a great tire, but it is a lot heavier, it's a 10 ply which is capable of max. pressure of 80 lbs, so more weight capacity. For my use, the XL/HL version has done just fine. The only downside to getting the E1 version may be the impact to range and possibly the ride quality (unknown) as you have more unsprung weight. If I'm recalling correctly, the new XL is 38 lb tire vs 53 lbs for the E1. That is a significant difference.

Continental offers TerrainContact A/T (trail tire) and H/T (highway tire) in 22” variant, with both offering a 70k mile warranty.

I have the H/T variant being installed on Tuesday. Will report back with initial feedback/findings.

I’m in the same boat as OP; OEM tires completely worn out with cords showing on one tire at 8500 miles.

Stock is only 9/32" for new, which I think some people forget - these as "sport" tires have less tread than most.

Same here. I am at 11,000 miles and I am at 4/32-6/32" depending on which tire and where it's measured. A bit disappointing.

I just ordered some Continental TerrainContact H/T's from SimpleTire for less than $1,000 on a Black Friday special, so will be replacing with these soon.

I have the H/T's coming as well, but will install in the Spring after my Michelin X-Ice snows come off! Can't wait to hear about your thoughts and results with the Continentals.

My r1s is at 9000 and at 4/32 on the front. I was driving conserve mode which apparently is a known issue. Swapped to standard mode. Did tire rotation. Back tires were per the Rivian advisor almost new and rotated to front. I took it in for vibration and an alignment took care of me but I have a small ding in the rear rim. Guessing wife ran over a curb or something. :). Front right window had wind noise. Missing some piece in manuf.. all good now. Orlando service center was 8 weeks back logged on appointment. Hopefully that will change when Tampa comes online this month. They are doing mobile repairs now.

Good morning.

I have approximately 15K on my R1T and have begun shopping for tires. That said, I fully expect to get at least 20K from the originals. The reason I'm chiming in - are you sure the Michelins you've mentioned are designed to be used on the Rivian? I had two conversations with two different people with Michelin yesterday - and was told that they do not currently manufacture a tire to those specifications. The 50K tread warranty makes me believe that this is a conventional tire - not one rated for EVs. Even though the size is right, the design and composition of the tire is very different for an EV than an ICE vehicle.

The Michelin - Defender LTX M/S2 and X LT A/S 2 that are "EV Compatible" and with a load index of 116, it's almost like they redesigned it to meet Rivian specs.
