+1 agree Airstream prices are nuts but yet I’m constantly thinking about a Basecamp 20x for ~$60k. My main justification is they seem to depreciate slowly enough that your net cost after resale might mean a reasonably low total cost of ownership. Anyone with experience agree or disagree?

We've got about 7000 miles towing a Basecamp 20x with our R1T and it is a fantastic combo! We're headed out on our longest trip to date in a few weeks to Florida and back (from Omaha, NE). Will put on over 3000 miles towing during this trip. We've been averaging 1.25 - 1.30 mi/kWH with highway speeds 60-65 on trips this summer, so expect to see about the same and have planned charging stops accordingly.

Airstream has been raising prices every year, so if you went to sell your trailer in a few years, selling for a bit less than you paid still looks like a deal compared to someone shopping new.

It’s not a purchase that ever pencils out. You can try to rationalize it and compare to hotel costs, the math will never make sense.

Our Airstream is the best purchase we’ve ever made and the places we’ve been able to see with it were best done in a camper. We now plan our year around using it, averaging about 75 nights a year.
