I didn't order the sunshade for the R2 with my car, assuming there would be tons available online for much less. I also don't care that much to have a branded sunshade, and it's one of those things I really could cheap out on a bit more than $150. But alas, I can't find anything online. Closest was EVBase, but they don't actually have any R2 accessories in stock it seems, even though they let you purchase it.

Any suggestions?

I've never owned a branded or "made to fit this model" -just always bought something generic and they fit fine (usually the kind that's on a flexible frame that folds into a small pouch and has extra material outside of the frame like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I90VP0G ).

I usually get one from HeatShields but I suspect they don't have the R2 measurements yet. If you place an order they'll get one to measure...but it might take a while.

Interestingly, enough, we were a little bit worried about the fact there was no cover over the panoramic roof. On our current RDX, they have a slider that makes it great to keep the sun and cold and heat out.

But, during our 87+ degree, brightly sunny, demo drive up in Michigan last weekend, it was a non-issue. Not only was the sun not bothering us, which was directly overhead, but it was very well controlled as far as the heat. So I don’t think we will put a cover on it.

I think if I do anything eventually? I’ll probably have one of my guys just tint a little bit darker. But we’re both surprised at how this wasn’t really an issue that we thought it would be.

In my weather, the windshield and roof glass covers are a must-have during the summer. I’m sure my R1 windshield cover will work fine for the R2, but what about roof glass? That has to be an exact fit. Has anyone explored the available 3rd party options?

I typically always buy cheap sunshades as I feel spending over $100 for one is silly. That being said, I expected it would take time for companies to release alternatives and probably wouldn't have a large selection until later in the year. I couldn't be without one for months so I ended up buying the OEM one and I'm quite happy with it (despite the price which I still feel is high for what it is).

It is good quality and I like that it folds rather than rolls up as its easier to manage and store.

I am using a sunshade from Nmoiss. I got it from Amazon. It's an umbrella that unfolds to fit the windshield. It is easy to deploy. The handle collapses aftre you open it, so it's not in your way. To store it it away, you extend the handle, collapse it it as you would an umbrella, wrap it up, with the attached Velcro strap, and slip it into its bag. It is compact when folded.. It stores nicely on the lower center console tray. It will also fit in the door pocket. It's not a custom fit, but comes in several sizes. Size M fits the R1S. You measure you windshield height and width. There is a table on their site that tells you what size fits. Also there's a listing by make and model.. I have the version with two layers of fabric, it keeps the heat out.

The specs AND The vehicle have been available for probably at least 6 months.. and the re-design and turn around time to manufacture is probably <90 days at this point if not less. so being able to have many products (if not the electric automatic ones) is pretty high confidence.
