Yeah, but they honored all the preorders of gen 1 trucks to their detriment. The point is, they honored their agreement then and now a few of you expect them to do it again continuously but this time it would be forgetting an agreement.
My only point is that what they did previously was a good idea to their benefit. I don’t expect anything special from any company to be honest. Especially one trying to squeeze by. I’m good paying what I agreed to in writing.

My only point is that what they did previously was a good idea to their benefit. I don’t expect anything special from any company to be honest. Especially one trying to squeeze by. I’m good paying what I agreed to in writing.

Not if it's meant to weed out entitled and unreasonable customers. If that was it's intent I'd say it's working. This isn't a price increase it's an incentive to entice new orders. Your's is NOT a new order, it's an existing order. Rivian needs to reach profitability and they aren't going to do that giving money away for no reason.
And you just don’t listen.

Rivian has the right to increase the price of my custom order. Did you know that?

I understand your point. I also respect the fact that you're not coming on the board and flaming Rivian. It just depends on how much time you are willing to invest in resolving this. I wanted the car quickly and am easy going on most things. I did not have to forgo my deposit because last year the rules were different. I did end up paying extra for the El Cap colour and the 20" wheels, which was not part of my original order. I wanted the silver colour and 21" wheels. It all worked out because I like the EC colour more and the 20" wheels are great. All the best mate!

Is trying to minimize the vehicle cost worth your time? Or does that have entertainment/recreation value?
It’s the principle of it. Folks need to be wary of non refundable deposits in that one could get a better price if they did not get in line..

I don't see why Rivian would do this. If it is the same car, and you're still making the purchase, I don't see the difference or any justification for losing the 3k. It shouldn't make any difference to Rivian, they are gaining the same either way. It seems like they are just being difficult for no reason.

This is an opportunity for Rivian customer service to make a customer happy with the only cost being shuffling a little paperwork. Seems like a no brainer.
Not quite…Rivian has me locked in with my deposit, which is $3000 non refundable. I will lose the $3000 deposit if I cancel to get the shop R1T for $3000 less. So in hindsight, I should have realized the price had the likely chance to go down and not have lock in.

Did you forgo your deposit? The issue has to do with the same vehicle configuration getting the discount in the shop and I am being undercut for being in line since July. It is the principle not the money per se…I am pretty well off and could pay cash for the vehicle many times over if I wanted too.
In that case, why sweat the small stuff. Enjoy the fact you will receive a customized order. A lot of people go the shop route, but you can say yours was a custom build.

Rivian needs to make a buck. And lots of companies out there have promos that aren’t retroactive.
