Does the S have AM radio?
Sponsored
Most major AM radio stations either simulcast on FM as well. FWIW, the only AM station that I listen to on a regular basis that's not also available via FM is available on TuneIn Radio which is available via the Rivian enfotainment system.Does the S have AM radio?
Without government legislation/regulation change, I seriously doubt the EV manufacturers would change their trend, since increasing revenue rather than expenses is their highest priority.AM radio still has useful value, I wish they would use DSP technology to suppress the EV noise instead of just deleting AM radio. The primary road to my vacation community floods occasionally at high tide and under certain wind conditions. They have a low power AM transmitter that broadcasts the conditions. It saves me 16 miles knowing in advance, as opposed to driving in 8 miles to find the road flooded, and driving back out.
Yeah, I have a handheld radio with a wideband receiver that picks up the AM band. I just have to remember to keep it in the truck AND make sure it is charged because my R1S does not have a $^&@*#! 12 volt outlet up front. ? Thanks Rivian. When I have some free time I want to install a 12 volt outlet that damn near every other vehicle in the world ships with.Without government legislation/regulation change, I seriously doubt the EV manufacturers would change their trend, since increasing revenue rather than expenses is their highest priority.
FWIW, there's always the portable am radio option, and If they would put an outlet in the center console instead of a mediocre Bluetooth speaker, you could plug in your portable am radio which would be a helluva lot more useful, IMHO.
I think I still have a portable am radio w/ a crank for battery charging for the disaster scenario. ;-)
Not ideal, but solvable with a USB-C to female 12V: https://a.co/d/hCZGMpXYeah, I have a handheld radio with a wideband receiver that picks up the AM band. Thanks, I had not dug into the options yet. From this thread it looks like the Rivian USB C delivers 15 watts. That would be enough to charge the radio. I'll check this device out.Not ideal, but solvable with a USB-C to female 12V: https://a.co/d/hCZGMpX
