Yeah - I stopped checking the site after the above since my check came in the mail two weeks after the status shifted.

It’s been almost a year since I mailed in
amended return to get the $7500 rebate. IRS is taking unbelievably long. They are saying due to stolen identities and other security measures and just being IRS, it’s taking longer than expected. Why didn’t Rivian just make us apply for the rebate in the tax year that the vehicle was delivered vs having to amend 2022 taxes? It would have been much easier to ask for the EV rebate in 2023 or 2024 when the vehicle was delivered.

First, it’s not a conspiracy theory by Rivian. They did you a favor.
Second, amended returns are processed last.
Lastly, the reason is because the law changed on a specific date and specified the only way you could claim the tax credit (it is not a rebate). Rivian did not change the tax code

Hi,
I had my tax guy submit my amended tax return in September after I took possession of the vehicle. I must be lucky because I got my rebate $7500 n November along with interest. I'm not sure the rhyme or reason that I got it so quickly. I was planning for at least a year but just got lucky? Maybe bc it was submitted by a tax professional?

After 16 months of back and forth, and the IRS asking for a form that didn't exist in 2022, the IRS closed my claim. I opened another one and the IRS finally gave me my tax credit! Keep at it everyone!

Slightly off topic but we forgot to include some solar panels I bought in December on our '25 return. Intend to file an amended return after we get our refund check. Can we just have them apply the $600ish credit from the amended return towards our '26 tax liability? Might that speed things up quite a bit?
