Another win for Gary (DriveStream)

I was in a very minor bump a couple of weeks back. Tesla MYP bonked into my tire at super low speed. I was stationary, he was not.

The guy sent me a quote, saying he was “doing me a favor” - $1200 damage to his bumper. I told him I’d need to review the video to be sure, and if it was unclear, let’s let Insurance sort this out.

Really questioned if it was my fault, since memories are never 100%, but Gary - you hairy, wonderful electronic beast - saved me. Very clear in the video (the camera on the driver’s side mirror) that he not only hit me, but saw me long beforehand.

Video was sent to Nationwide at their request. They have denied his claim as a result of the video.

Shoutout to Nationwide - they made the process really painless, and were on top of it - time to resolution from claim open was less than a day.

EDIT - to clarify, this was so minor as to not have triggered the Incident cam, so it came from the Drive Stream. Here’s a reminder to make sure you back those up before they get cycled out of your Flash drive!

EDIT: I did that math wrong, sorry. Each camera file is 559MB, so it’s 2.8GB for all 5 cameras for the 7 minutes. So - 80 hours of driving, not 400.

Good point - here’s some data for those interested:

The clips I pulled were 7 minutes, which comes to 559MB across the 5 cameras They are labeled:
- frontCenter
- gearGuard
- rearCenter
- sideLeft
- sideRight

That’s about 80MB/minute in aggregate. Or about 5.4GB/hour.

Simplified math is that a 2TB drive can store approx 400 hours of video. That’s a lot of driving.

(just checked and mine is 500GB, but still - that’s a lot of driving)

I want to, but it has his face in it and I’m very anti-doxxing (even if he was a bit of an aggressive asshole about it).
