I have owned several Audis since the early 2000s, and we currently have a 2023 SQ5 and 2026 RS3 in the garage. With all the software issues in their ICE vehicles, I've never had any interest in an Audi EV... :p

We'll look to replace the SQ5 with an R2 later in the year, as having at least one EV makes sense for us (after getting rid of our Tesla Model 3 a few months ago).

Long time Audi fan here as well. Started with a B5 A4, and since have had a B6 A4, Q5 TDI, and now currently in an OG e tron SUV. Similar to what everyone else has said, there is something about Audi interiors. Definitely do feel like it's greater than the some of its parts. It could just be me, but I feel like there's an intangible quality that makes them special (I could be and probably am biased).

But after moving to the e tron, I can't go back to ICE (as my daily) and just getting too nervous about the motor sealant issue, so looking to make a switch. Was looking at current e tron offerings (Q4 & Q6), but I don't think there is anything from Audi that is a better overall package as the R2 (software, range, preimum-ish interior, autonomy, offroad capability). Will for sure miss the B&O sound system though.

I have a 2019 Q5 Quattro as a bridge car from when I dumped my Tesla; I didn't realize it was a suburban mom-mobile when I got it but holy hell it is. Can't wait to trade it in on my R2.

Great to see so many other Audi drivers out here. I have been driving Audi since the mid 90s, various A3, A4, A6 and Q5. Over the years I got lucky and had no major repairs or oil consumption, no lemon and very little rattles. A battle was always begging the dealer to install software updates. Too many piano black plastic pieces and touch buttons are not helping either.

The R2 seems to check all boxes of what I'm looking for. Missing CarPlay, head up display and air suspension aside, other functionality (dash cam, garage door opener) will hopefully be added via OTA updates. The interior seemed to be as good as in recent Audi models (Q5/Q6), too early to tell if rattles become an issue.

I was set on replacing my 2021 Q5 PHEV with a 2026 Q6/SQ6 but I thought a 2026 Q5 PHEV would do too. Both of them have the same software issues and are but ugly. Test drove the R2 last weekend and was impressed, would order one today if I could. Any other Audi drivers having similar thoughts?

I still own my 2021 Audi ETron Prestige - it has 230 miles of range and easily makes regional trips up here from Boise to Portland, Seattle, SF. Fast charging is getting better in the mountain west. I don’t recommend any PHEV. Consider the amount of long trips to the amount of everyday trips, daily commutes. I’d venture to say that 90% of most driving is local and far less than 150 miles per day. Home charging is far more economical than pumping gas here in Idaho, and probably CA even with CA’s high electricity prices, gasoline and or diesel is probably more expensive in CA.

Compared to my 2026 R1S Performance Max is comparing a luxury SUV ETron to a luxury Rivian adventure vehicle. Hands down, the Audi is a far smoother and quieter road ride. The R1S is also a great ride ( round trips Boise to Nashville and Boise to Tampa ). The R1S eliminates any range anxiety that a PHEV attempts to make a compromise for. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed both vehicles.

i have a 2015 Audi Q5 TDI. I still love the diesel motor. Never had a problem with it. I am still thinking about the R2. Turned down the launch edition. I really do not like not having a real satellite radio. I have had it since 2015 and can’t imagine life without it. Rivian must not know they are marketing R2 as able to go anywhere. Cell service doesn’t go everywhere. This might be a deal breaker for me. Also had a true HEPA filter since 2015 and can’t imagine new vehicles not coming standard with it. Really need it where we have wildfires.

The 3.0L TDI in the B8.5 Q5 is one of the best motors for a daily. Loads of torque down low and the gas mileage was amazing (even if it was cheating haha)! On one road trip, I got almost 500 mi on a tank.
