I know this is strange question since most if not all of us have been waiting several years… but is there currently any reason to wait to configure until ‘24?

Pre-ordered in June ‘22, just got the email invite to configure. I’d love to replace our 2014 CRV, but not in a rush.

Why would you wait until '24 to configure? Both the T and S are a blast to drive and both will afford you and your family a little more room compared to the CRV. I don't think Rivian is going to drop the price in '24. If you have the finances, I do not think you'll regret getting the Rivian sooner vice later.,

Just go with it. No reason to wait right now.

I know NACS is coming native in ‘25, I just wasn’t sure if there were any known hardware changes slated for next year.

There is a behind the scenes change coming to the vehicle network architecture in the R1 vehicles. This is apparently hardware only, the features and UI presumably will be the same. Rivian is doing this primarily to reduce manufacturing costs.

The current architecture is relatively mature and debugged. You have to decide if waiting for the new architecture might introduce new challenges and be a temporary step backwards from the mature architecture in terms of software issues. Personally I would not wait, there's always something new coming and you could keep deferring forever...

Only reason i can think of to wait is Service. The wife and I knew going in that could be a challenge and we are patient. Folks who will need prompt service may want to hold off. Wait time here in MD is at least three months unless the truck is completely broken down..then they may be able to get to you sooner but will still be out of service for a while. Its fine if you don't mind a rental... but its also inconvenient for some because the SC are located far away.

Another reason may be the point of sale tax credits that are supposed to go into effect next year... but that's only if your MSRP is below 80k and its still a question if the standard pack will qualify.

TLDR if your patient with service and MSRP is above 80k.no reason to wait IMO.

I’ve been lurking for a while and yes, it seems like service is the typical complaint right now. My SC is Boston, not sure how busy they are. I’ve only seen a couple Ts and only 1 S on the road around here (near cape cod).

Sounds like I should just do it which is the answer I was hoping for.:)

I just read an article today about since the UAW Autoworkers strike, they expect EV prices to rise $3,000 to $5,000.

If I were you, I would jump on it now and lock in the price.
