As another data point - after 1 year and 17k miles of road surface abrasion, my OEM Pirelli Scorpions are pretty much finito. I was debating between the Continental Terrain Contact H/Ts and Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2s. Ultimately went with Michelin (specifically, the 115 load index / XL variant) and will have them installed tomorrow morning at a local shop (Lamb's Tire). Looking forward to comparing the ride and efficiency against the OEMs.

As I shared in another thread yesterday, I've been super happy with the Terrain Contact HTs over the last 6k miles. Efficiency is at least as good as the OE Pirelli, quieter, better ride, great traction.
Thank you for the quick reply. I've tried to look through all of threads out here but there are so many. Sorry about that. Very glad to hear the positive experience so far.

Be interested in whether Costco is willing to install the 115s. I just got back from Discount Tire where we spent about an hour trying to sort through various 22" tire weights and options. Bottom line, DT says I need to replace with HL / 116 version of the Defenders (vs. XL / 115), but that will add about 10-12 pounds of rotating weight on each corner (and they're more expensive). I would much rather get the 115s if I can find a dealer willing to install them. I don't tow anything anyway, so the extra load rating is wasted on me -- both in terms of my expected efficiency and the extra cost.
I came to the same conclusion and my local garage was happy to swap out and mount the XL 115Hs. They actually agreed that unless towing or trailering loads the 115s stand out for range and ride.

I also did a GORK comparison of tire options for the first gen. R1S and you can find that here.

I settled on the Michelin Defender 115H after comparing the to size options on GORK
