Continental terrain contact HT in 275/50/22 is the tire to get, or AT if you want all terrain. I went with the AT and it’s great so far. Smoother ride and still handles well. About a 7% efficiency drop vs stock so not bad with an AT tire. HT should be similar efficiency to stock.
Who has the HT version? I’m also looking at the AT vs HT.

I'm still very happy with the HT. Personally had no need for the AT.

275/50R22 Continental Terrain Contact H/T on my R1T and it's a substantially better performing tire over the OEM Pirelli selection. Very glad I made the change.

Excellent. Great to hear. Assuming no efficiency impact? I saw a Reddit post with someone saying a 25% efficiency hit with the AT’s, which is terrible.

Got any pictures of those HT’s on your Rivian?

Not me but I’m at 2.27 mi/kwh now since installing AT. I’m at 2.32 lifetime. This is a little skewed since weather has been good for efficiency for the majority of miles. Before winter I was at 2.42 so I think a 7% hit for AT is still about right. If you need every last mile get the HT otherwise on just looks alone, the AT is great.

There is a
MICHELIN®DEFENDER®LTX®M/S 2 275/50R22 115H XL BSW
as well. I swear they said they were going to make a 116 version that would be out in April, but I can't find it.

I believe this might the one you‘re referring to:

MICHELIN DEFENDER LTX M/S2 LT275/50R22 119/116S

That’s confusing…is it a 119 or 116?
Either way it’s at least the same load rating as the OEM tire. In Michelin’s site they list it only as 119:

Looking at the spec comparison with the OEM Pirellis, one thing I like better in the Michelins is that they have a 14/32” tread depth as opposed to 9/32”.

One downside to that extra tread depth is increased rolling resistance, which explains the OE tread depth. That doesn't mean this isn't still a great tire option.

According to Tire Rack, the Conti has better wet performance than the Goodyear - which could be a deciding factor for the OP in the Seattle area.
I think the test you're referring to was for the previous generation Goodyear. I'm sure the newer ones are better, but I haven't seen them compared to anything yet.

Test report is dated September 2023, so believe that is latest model.

Hehe, whoops. I didn't know which Goodyear you were referring to, but I was referring to the Michelin M/S2. Sorry about that.
I was originally responding to the post above by Falco who has that Goodyear Steadfast HT as the OP is in the Seattle area.

I did end up going with your recommendation and got the tires put on today (my R1S was in the Rivian Service Center for a long time hence the delay) They seem smooth and quiet so far and I will report back on range if there are any marked differences. Thanks for the recommendation!

I just took off the snows and put on the Conti TC H/Ts - VERY happy as well, ride is improved and efficiency is great. Highly recommend.
