lol. You should move on from rivian. Someone who will appreciate the vehicle much more than you will be able to take delivery of this one. You seem more fit for the BMW crowd.

Your money, your choice. Personally I don't see anything wrong with those pictures and would happily drive the vehicle until the SC could fit me in. Worst problem I had "like that" was some pollen trapped under the PPF on a gear tunnel door. Got it replaced with no questions when I stopped by for other items a few months later.

Water spots? Oh noez. $10 on Amazon:

Editing my comment to add: does dude seriously have a profile picture of the same truck that he called "nasty" and refused? And is using that for his profile pic? Think my eyes rolled all the way to the back of my head. ??

It was a pretty short post for the severity of the complaint.

The images and videos do not look like there are significant issues to me. When I picked up my R1S, there was some minor misalignment, a small dent, and some water mark/spots.

This is why I can't take some of these rants seriously.

The total annual production capacity of the Normal plant for R1 vehicles is currently 65k. It is not, and has never been, and is not ever planned to be, 175k. Rivian will be reconfiguring the Normal plant in 2024 to increase the R1 capacity to 85k.

If you don't know that, then how in hell can you know better than Rivian what the "adventure demand" is?
I live 35 miles from the Normal plant. When fully built out the plant capacity is 175,000. Mitsubishi produced 150,000 in their hey day. It could be they are planning an additional model to be built or the delivery van to take off, but the plant assembly capacity is 175,000.

It's 2023... in my opinion there is no excuse to have body panels so misaligned - when the average Joe can see the inconsistent gaps coming right out of the factory for this many units produced and they are still delivering them like this is not a good message.

These issues just don’t look like a big deal to me…

This is the fault of the factory. Making the service center take apart the car again is ridiculous. They need a revolving loop and send the car back to the guy not paying attention the first time. This is a McDonald's schema to push as much product as fast as posible. Doesn't work with 99cent burgers either.

Meh. These seem like pretty minor issues. I get wanting your new car to be perfect but the diva attitude (“make this perfect for me or lose me as a customer”) is a bit much. I had a few minor issues at delivery but just noted them and they were easily fixed at my first service appointment.

I offered them the chance to make things right. I told the SC lead that next time I come back if the vehicle isn’t at the condition it should be at pickup that I’m moving on from Rivian.
Rivian can't sell their cars fast enough. Pretty sure if you move on they'll be perfectly fine with that. If you want a dealership to stroke your ego because you're buying a car, buy a Bentley. The diva attitude gets you no sympathy points.

I have been trying to follow the forums with a fine tooth-comb since I made the commitment to purchase. According to the guide, within the next few weeks for delivery. I do not think of myself as the prima donna, but I wouldn't have been thrilled with some of those issues either. This is not only my first EV, but also first $90k vehicle. Working my butt off from the bottom to the middle at best, I think $90k is nothing to scoff at.

Water marks- fine, small mark on bumper- fine, but misaligned panels? Leaking seals around doors? Unusual noises? Internal components not working? No way... Not for $90k IMO.

I just saw the gentleman post about his (3) day old R1S have a complete electrical failure on the highway...Nah...Not for that money.

OP may have gone a little overboard, but he had some legit rights for concern.

Thank you everyone for the input on these forums. I will definitely be asking my guide to have the SC check these before I make the two-hour trek to purchase. I honestly wish I had $90k to throw around that wasn't a serious life decision for me.

I’m sharing my experience if you have nothing positive to contribute why even comment? Instead you write some toxic response with 0 contribution to discussion. Normally I wouldn’t entertain someone like you but heck I’m feeling generous today. Is that “diva” enough for you? ?

How long until they can’t sell their cars fast enough? If this is their norm and people are content picking up their cars in these types of conditions then I feel sorry for the future of this company. Eventually when the pre orders run out the demand will dry out. For a company bleeding money and losing $30k a vehicle they don’t have the luxury of bad publicity. Yet on every turn all you keep hearing are horror stories such as the recent mass bricking of vehicles due to a bad OTA update. Word of mouth will spread like wild fire about these bad experiences and they will suffer. You want to keep living in hopium land be my guest. There’s a way to deliver a product and there’s a shitty way Rivian dropped the ball on this one simple as that. Whoever argues that a customer should settle because it’s a new company… nope sorry not buying it.

If I’m being honest if this community is made up of mostly people like you that make these types of ignorant responses y'all can have it. I came on here not for sympathy but to share my concerns about the brand and my delivery experience. If there’s anyone rooting for Rivian it’s me and this is a major miss on the mark.

This is why Rivian is not calling themselves a luxury brand. Some people have unrealistic expecations because of the cost of the vehicle.
Luxury brand? I just want a vehicle that isn’t full of scratches and marks. I don’t think that makes me someone looking for luxury. I was willing to look past all the imperfections like the massive gaps everywhere.
