Have had the vehicle for five months now and roughly 6K miles. Was curious if anyone else has the problem with TuneIn where the commercial breaks are twice as loud as the broadcast. With some of the more obnoxious ads the shock factor of switching to a commercial ahs me riding the volume knob constantly. For me, the entertainment system of Rivian is a bust. During commute hours I can't get any radio stations for traffic updates and alternatives. During the need for music or talk, I can't sit there and listen since any cut to commercial triggers an audio volume assault.

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this? You would think buying a 2022 vehicle would have a simple category of entertainment dialed in but this is the worst of all the vehicles I have owned for twenty years,

No, that hasn't happened to me.

The only problem I've had with TuneIn is that when I leave the car with TuneIn playing, then get back in, it resumes playing at the exact same point - until the buffered data is used up then it re-plays the the station identification and abruptly jumps to the current time in the stream. I find this a little annoying.

Tunein in my R1T has been a disaster. It spends a large amount of time trying to unsuccessfully download and buffer. When listening to one song a new song will cut in and the song I was listening to disappears. The station "buttons" on the screen oftentimes do not work at all no matter how you try to activate them. If you switch from Tunein to FM and back everything freezes. Tunein is tied to cell tower coverage. In Northern Arizona ATT cell towers are few and far between severely limiting Tunein use when it does work. The R1T entertainment system is the worst of all the cars I have owned. With the last software update my FM radio totally bricked and is not usable at all. So much for the last update improving the FM experience. The nearest service center is a five hour roundtrip and who knows how long the R1T will require to be there?

Don't know if it's normal, but I've never had a commercial break, other than the regular commercials for the radio station that mimic the terrestrial broadcast.

No commercials...... That would be nice. I have listened to the same commercial to the same commercials hundreds if not thousands of times. Not sure I understand why unless I need to subscribe .

You shouldn’t be getting TuneIn ad breaks in the middle of listening, only when you first start the stream. Maybe there’s something happening that’s causing your stream to reset, so it restarts and you get another ad?

Otherwise, the volume and general janky-ness of the app is just a TuneIn thing, and I’ve experienced the exact same in my Rivian and on my Sonos system at home. I stopped bothering with a premium account after my free trial ran out, because it doesn’t even use it when listening on Sonos. (On my phone and in my Jeep with CarPlay I use the Broadcasts app instead.)

That said, I still use TuneIn frequently in my R1T, because my favorite local radio station is an independent that can’t afford new broadcast equipment, so the FM broadcast is significantly worse than using TuneIn…
