People seem to have taken the 22s off roading in some definitely hairy situations. Personally would feel uncomfortable about the lack of sidewalls, but the car seems capableHas anyone taken their R1T off road with the 22” wheels?
I would like to try it, nothing crazy, but I’m worry that the wheel will get trash.
Is it the 22" wheels that are bad? Or that the tires mounted on those 22" wheels weren't suited well enough for the terrain? The road tires will definitely not do well in anything muddy.22's are pretty shit if it's a little muddy but decent off road otherwise IMO. I still ended up swapping to 20" wheels and tires for stuff like this.
Sidewall height is definitely a big concern if you need both float for soft surfaces and strength for sharp obstacles. This was with my tires slightly under what Rivian recommends:Is it the 22" wheels that are bad? Or that the tires mounted on those 22" wheels weren't suited well enough for the terrain? There are available 22" all terrain tires which are pretty capable. Although I'd still prefer going to something with more sidewall.
