Thought I was being "thick" about using air compressor but had my husband try and he also couldn't figure it out. Maybe there's something wrong with the hookup. We both read the pages in the manual and attempted to connect one of the female ends by pulling back the end to connect to the compressor end mounted in RIS. Tried both female ends and neither one will latch on. And the actual air compressor seems really crappy and seems a bit loose. Anyone else have issues like this?

When you say loose, is the nozzle mounted in the vehicle pushing further into the vehicle, or is it solid? The plastic panel behind there is glued and can break.

Can you share a couple pics of what you are seeing? The connections are pretty standard but I recall others having similar issues in the past.

Sounds like my experience on my R1S (June 2023). Have to pull the fitting back while pushing the hose on very hard so the fitting will "click" on. I bought a different hose and fitting from Home Depot that clips on much easier. Also, the entire air compressor is loose in its plastic housing.

Yeah, something's wrong and will be covered under warranty. My hose actually just went bad and was replaced under warranty:

@redantpile, yes the nozzle seems to push further into the vehicle. That's why I'm thinking there maybe something wrong

@shrink - thanks. Thought it was me. I'll add it to the next service visit. Man, I've already had them out 3 times, although the one visit was to get a spare tire mounted.

@usulio - thanks for chiming in. Sounds like enough others have had similar issues, so I'll add it to my next service appt...which will be the fourth time I've had them out!

@COdogman - sounds like a few others have had the same problem so I'm going to add it to my next service visit. Thanks for chiming in!

When it works well, it's really solid and very useful. It's shockingly fast. I have installed my own onboard air systems in Jeeps in the past, this blows away even the most expensive one. However, there is one VERY weird thing that you should remember if you ever plan to use anything other than the OEM hose. The compressor end is a male connector, and on all standard systems it would be the female collar side. So I made up a short pigtail that is female-female to let me use other hoses. Such as a coiled hose with an air gun to clean things.

Since it's a quick connect, it requires pulling back the sleeve on the hose and pressing onto the compressor connection at the same time, so there's a bit of a learning curve. But it should make a firm connection and seal. The compressor is quiet as a mouse, but if you use the correct fitting contained in the kit, it is quite fast. The correct fitting is the Shrader fitting.

Thanks @SwampNut but I'm confident from some of the other responses to this thread, that there's something wrong with the nozzle and casing on my compressor. The housing is loose and the nozzle pushes into the side of the vehicle when the hose is pulled back to connect.

@naninanipoopoo there's something wrong with the housing and nozzle. It pushes into vehicle when hose collar is pushed back and I attempt to connect. Service call!

Some people experience that the fitting pushes into the panel and there's not enough space to get the bayonet chuck on.

If you thought using the hose is fun, just wait until you try & cram it back into the carrying bag…
