I am scheduled to take delivery in two days. My experience has been poor so far (buggy 8 step issues, rejected a truck due to wrong configuration). There are a lot of posts with deliveries getting cancelled 1-2 days out, which is my current timeframe, so I'm a little pensive about it all. I haven't heard much from my guide either. Its crazy to think I paid for and have an insurance policy on a car that I haven't seen.

I am hoping for some balance, so does anyone want to mention if they have had a good delivery process?

Once i had a truck that had completed all inspections the process was great! That key is knowing when the "final" approval occurs.. super glad they got a machine to me that doesn't have an issue 5 miles down the road

Keep in mind people turn to forums to complain. Think of all the new owners too busy enjoying their truck to spend time posting.

Mine was very positive. They did contact me to let me know there was transporter damage and asked to reschedule delivery to make sure it was taken care of. I wanted to use it that day, so asked to keep the appointment and get the damage repaired later. They obliged, were on time and super helpful, professional, and walked me through the issues and made sure everything was documented. I had a great experience with service when the issues were actually addressed and love my truck.

Mine was great. I had a few minor hiccups with the 8 step process. My delivery did have to get rescheduled once due to some logistics issues but that was only by a couple of days. Neither of which were material and my guide was great on both fronts.

I think both of you had some issues that would typically result in a poor delivery experience (Last minute cancellation, and transport damage).

What I conclude from your posts is that despite the delivery issues, you still have a positive perspective on the process. This tells me the truck is so awesome it makes up for the purchase and delivery issues.

That's good to know, but I'm still a little surprised that the delivery issues (worse for some than others) are occurring quite frequently.

Edit: Right before I submitted this post somebody else posted an experience similar to the ones I quoted. Last minute delivery cancellation/reschedule. Same poster described their experience as "great." I think some people have different expectations than others. I wouldn't consider that great, but again... If the truck is awesome enough it would make up for the delivery issues. I have only seen a couple people respond so far that had a smooth delivery process.

My impression is that a majority of last minute cancellations are due to auto transporter issues (delays or damage).

Those can certainly be mitigated, but to some extent they're a consequences of the "just in time" dealerless delivery model. I think the trade off is worth it, but it's a trade off.

Spot on comment.
While typically I tend to agree... The OP created this thread inviting those with good experiences to comment giving those people a chance to weigh in to balance out his negative experience. Surprisingly, only a couple people have reported problem free deliveries. The result, so far, has further supported the idea that delivery problems are quite widespread.

I'm sure more people will chime in to hopefully sway the balance of good and bad experiences, but right now the number of comments by people with no delays, cancellations, damage, paint defects, panel misalignments, or problems requiring service immediately upon delivery are outnumbered by people who had at least one of these problems.

That's not a good sign.

I had no delays or delivery issues of any kind. No complaints here.

I guess these are the pains of early adoption. Just going to roll with it, hope for the best and see how it goes. But definitely it seems they are not yet ready for widespread adoption.

Mine was all good. My spare was missing, which wasn't a surprise since the truck wasn't made for me and was made when there seemed to be a shortage of tires for them. A couple of literal QC nitpicks on my part that are no worse than what our Volvo had. Paint was in better condition than the Volvo.

Delivery specialist awesome. Hands down best experience of taking ownership I've had with how he provided a full tour of everything for my wife, with no feeling of being rushed.

Honestly everyone at Rivian has been great.
