Quick 2 day trip for work, drive out Wed morning and drive back Fri morning. R1T wind whistle or something loose is getting worse and window trip on rear passenger door came loose. Have a recording and pictures to setup a service appt.

Stopped at Mercedes Visitor/Training Center in Vance, AL, sort of a halfway point for under an hour to fast charge. 350KW charger, I got 215 stepped down to 75 when close to 80%. Pricing was $0.44 per minute.

In Jackson, my hotel (Residence Inn) had a 14-50 out back for 16-20 miles per hour with the mobile charger, so back to full over the next 2 nights.

Stopped back at Mercedes again in Vance on the way home. No-one else was at this charger either time. Right off 20 and easy in and out. Visitor center says it opens at 8:30 but it wasn't open either time I stopped.

Other chargers available were Tesla regular ~6KW, Destination, ~16kw and superchargers, made me wonder if a Tesla->J1772 would be another item to pick up and throw in frunk.

@ndmiller: Our Tesla -> J-1772 adapter helps us in two ways:

First, at our usual hotel the Tesla Destination chargers deliver about 7.8 kW, and the J-1772 chargers deliver only about 6 kW. Higher charging speed can give more range security the next day.

Second, sometimes there is no J-1772 where you are, so the Tesla Destination chargers sometimes "save the day."

Our adapter is USA-made http://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=17&product_id=100. The TeslaTap MINI at http://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=17&product_id=146 is more compact and also USA-made. For sustained charge of a Rivian (whose default and maximum are 48 amps at 240 volts), it's recommended to use circuits and adapter rated for at least 125% of the maximum charging speed (i.e., 60 amps or higher).

People steal adapters. Whatever product you get, be sure you have something to lock the adapter to your vehicle. With TeslaTap products above, consider either the mini-padlock ($4.95 as an add-on option from TeslaTap), or a Master 647D shackle lock ($10-11 at my local hardware store).

Congratulations on your successful Rivian trip!
