Well other than the fact that this is a public forum I wanted to express that I liked the Rivian enough to order another one, but I will be sure to ask for your permission next time. :D

Seriously, not sure what qualifies as a "compelling need" in your book but I would guess that 90% of the posts here would not exist if they had to meet your standard. In all fairness I could ask the same question about your arguably less productive response.
Don't blame you a bit. Thanks for posting

His response comes from an emotion that is not unique to him. Although, what you posted is good info to have for all of us and you have every right to post it since you were an owner, a current reervation holder, a forum member and it is R1 related and I am sure this is not your intention; it feels like you are giving a big bird to some of us that are waiting by letting someone skip the line and a big bird to Rivian for deciding to stick with original pricing. I am not saying, I am above doing what you did and this is not meant to be a start of an argument, and it is not an attack. It seems you were surprised by his response. ALthough, intellectually what you did makes perfect sense, I am just telling you how it feels reading it (obviously not everyone shares that feeling).

Rivian R1T
So I'm curious to above numbers. Trying to see what folks think it's a good profit. Say you get a low option R1T at pre-march pricing, about 75k, add destination, hefty sales tax in many states (including mine) would bring it to about 80k. So 27.5k profit in best case scenario worth selling? Chime in all.
I've given this some thought too. I paid about $85K with tax. If I sell at $115K ($30K profit) and then get back into line at new pricing - $91K (with quad & options) + sales tax +other fees (about $100K K), much of that profit will be gone - R1T now $15K more expensive. I calculate about a $15K profit - $22.5K with the tax rebate. But what if you can't qualify for another rebate with the new lower income limits, or EV price limit? In addition, unless you are switching to another EV, you will be paying for gas and ICE maintenance again (until your new R1T shows-up, plus any losses on the purchase of a new/used vehicle in the interim. I think gas and maintenance will eat another 5-8K if you wait 1-2 more years. The best plan would have been to have purchase two R1T's at pre-March pricing and then sold one. Obviously it all depends on how much you can get and what your second car situation might be.

All valid points for sure. My daily driver right now is a Ford Fusion Energi (PHEV). What I am missing out on is the truck capability that I use often. I have been renting (and borrowing) trucks when I cant manage to jam whatever it is im moving into my Fusion or my wife's eTron. I plan to get the lower end dual motor Rivian when its available. I dont need 830HP and 300 miles of range, but I do need that bed, towing capability, and (occasionally) the ground clearance.

The OP cleared $30K on the sale (his figure) , and let's say he can apply $5K of the Fed Tax Credit.. so $35K profit in all.

A new nicely optioned quad motor R1T with taxes/fees/etc.. is $100K... less $35K = $65K.
His original R1T with taxes/fees/etc was $75K (guessing at that final figure).

All said and done, the OP came out $10K ahead and now has to wait another 1-2yrs for a new truck.

Certainly not a windfall if you're ordering a replacement Rivian vehicle as the March $$$ Rivian price increase killed that. It would look much better if you were replacing the Rivian with a different vehicle that didn't see a one day 15% price jump this year. You could literally purchase a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV (yes I know they are not similar vehicles, it's just for illustration) with the profit and still have a few $$ left for coffee.

If the OP is happy with the outcome, in the end that's all that matters. And, someone just skipped the 2yr wait for a new R1T.
