So I called USAA today, they just rerouted me back to Safelite customer service, who said they'll do warranty work and started making me an appointment... At the same place. I specifically asked about their lack of calibrating cameras, so they said they'd do another shop, but can't confirm if they do cameras.

And no one will tell me if I take it somewhere else for work, if I have to pay my deductible again.

I took the appointment, I'm probably just going to no show, and let Rivian do it right. I'll fight USAA on it after, but I'm sick of this trash service from Safelite. I looked at my friend's Rivian, the gaskets are all super clean and the clips are in place. Mine looks like a DIY project.
Did you get this taken care of? Something just hit my windshield while driving on the freeway and noticed when I got home that my windshield was cracked on my R1S. I also have USAA and wondering how they'll handle the claim.

I did, but ironically, have a new sound I have to deal with...

I took the Rivian appointment and had them replace the glass. Their glass is way better than the Safelite version; it's wider and the gaskets are longer, meaning no gaps on the sides and less chance of buffering noise. The wiper camera is properly adhered and doesn't have a weird air gap. The alignment is much better as well. Also the cameras are calibrated; not that I had any issues after Safelite replacement, but now I can't blame Safelite if I did have issues.

So the bad part: I think I have a bad seal, and I think I know why. When I'm running the A/C, increased fan speed produces increased noise at the glass seem by the driver side. I thought it was highway speed buffering, but if I turn on recirculation it goes away, which tells me it's a seal issue. This happened with Safelite replacement too, but it also had a really bad buffering. I think it's a result of the new "close doors and run fans on high" programming Rivian has; if the windows aren't cracked it would jack up the glue seal.

We're on a road trip now, and the weather is beautiful, so we're either windows down for Dougie or recirc for my mental health. I'll troubleshoot and update when we get back. I did notice today a really sloppy adhesive application on the driver side, so maybe it's there.

Thank you for the info. I'm thinking of taking it to the rivian service center and having it done there the request reimbursement from USAA. I'm not quite sure what the process is but i'm sure I'll pay a bit out of pocket having Rivian take care of it.

BTW Doug looks adorable!
