id guess its going to be north of $125k which is a lot. you get a lot more luxury than you do i the R1S but you will get a less capable offroad vehicle. if it were closer in price to the R1S id consider it.
I'm not willing to pay $125k. My fear is that will be the case.

Like I said it felt worth investigating with the R1S delay. "Supposedly" the dealer has preliminary pricing, what ever the hell that means.

Put in an order for a EQS 450 4-matic SUV. Estimated price is around $112k with a fair amount of options. I'm the second order at this dealer for the 450 and the build date is January.

They don't require a deposit until the build locks in September. So no risk is putting in the order. I'm still waiting to see what the final price will be when the base MSRP is released this fall. At this point the dealer only had the option pricing.

I know everyone’s use case is different. But at current Rivian pricing I would 100% opt for the EQS. We will never take our R1S off-road. It will live its life in suburban streets and parking lots. The locked in pre-March pricing is the only reason we are sticking with the R1S. The EQS SUV looks like a fantastic vehicle.

The family and I stopped for coffee along I-70 near Empire, CO and ran across an EQS with Alabama manufacturing plates. A very nice crossover IMO.

One of the cool things aboutliving in this area is that you get to see lots of prototypes running around for high altitude, cold weather, or off road testing. We also saw a heavily disguised next gen Mustang.

We just purchased an EQS 450 4matic SUV last night. We originally placed an order back in July as an alternative to our R1S reservation and/or Volvo EX90.

Our local dealer called us up last Friday to let us know they received their first EQS and we could come check it out to make sure we were still interested. We fell in love with it pretty quick, and this was almost the exact same spec as our order. So we ended up paying a couple of grand over MSRP (yes I know, shame on me) but because it's built in Alabama and we took delivery before January 1st, it still qualifies for the $7500 tax credit.

It is such a different vehicle than a Rivian. I know they claim it has off-road performance but I really doubt anyone would ever take it off-road. What it offers is a level of refinement, comfort, and luxury that is unmatched by any other vehicle I've ever driven. Our R1T, our previous Etron, Volvo XC90, and Model X don't come close to the fit and finish, and smoothness of this SUV. It's definitely not for everyone, but the R1T will serve as our do everything adventure vehicle and this will be our family hauler, and road trip vehicle.

It has some amazing tech. I won't list everything but a couple of items stood out. First is the level 2 ADS. I haven't driven a Tesla in a couple of years, but this is much better than the advanced autopilot we had in our Model X. It does lane auto lane changing and even uses the headlights to project an arrow on the road in front of the car to show the path of the vehicle.

The second is the charging and route planning. You can manually activate battery pre-conditioning any time which is nice if a fast charger isn't in the navigation system. You can also select charging conditions for your planned route. Meaning you select the desire state of charge for arrival at chargers and at your final destination. It is on par with ABetterRoutePlanner but built into the OEM navigation.

Finally the voice control is one of the best I've experienced. Soooooo much better than Alexa.

Again this is a very different vehicle than the Rivian, but I thought some of your might like to hear about it. I'm really impressed what Mercedes is doing. They quickly caught up to the leaders in electric vehicles (Tesla, Rivian, Hyundai, etc.). They also have three more EVs coming this year which is quite impressive. In 2023 they will have the EQS Sedan, EQS SUV, EQE Sedan, EQE SUV, and EQB SUV. Pretty impressive lineup.

It's only 3500lbs in the 5-seater (7 seater doesn't offer the tow package). So not that great.

Congratulations! Styling is subjective but I think that is a beautiful vehicle: inside and out. I bet Mercedes is going to sell a lot of them.

What a beautiful SUV. Congrats, please keep us posted on "range" as that is the MAIN deciding factor for some of us looking at EVs in the near future.

Thanks. The EQS looks fairly plain which I don't mind. I really don't want a flashy car. I'm sure it will draw a lot less attention compared to our R1T. It looks much better in person and is a lot bigger than expected. It's actually longer than the R1S.

I'll post some efficiency numbers once we get a chance to drive it a bit. We originally were going to take the R1T to Phoenix over Thanksgiving to visit my parents, but now we might be taking the EQS. That will be a great test of the range and charging speeds.

I've also sent an email to Kyle at Out of Spec and offered to let him use our EQS in their range test. I'm only about 75miles from their location.

EQS still looks awful from the outside. Inside is too spaceshipy and trying too hard. Pain in the butt to clean. However, craftsmanship will be above all others on the market. Rightfully so at nearly 150k OTD.

I get the looks are subjective, however my spec which was fairly well equipped was $120k out the door. That's $4k less than a bare bones 7-seater Model X.

My kids absolutely love the interior. They already think it's the coolest vehicle we've owned. Don't knock it until you actually spend some time in one. I had a similar opinion in the beginning when I saw photos but have been pretty blown away by the actual execution.
