I have a current Thule hitch mount that clamshells back when bikes are on. In process of testing but I don't think it will give me access to at least the upper portion of the tailgate when the bikes are on.

Any recs for a rear mounted bike rack that will allow me to move 4 bikes to the side and get access (as well as actually hold four mountain bikes so maybe a five rack)? Thank you in advance.

I would agree with kuat, but also say Yakima is a close second. I think the swing away hitch style is what you would.be looking for.and probably the tray style.(not hang) since it can be difficult to use the hang style ones with electric bikes that are heavier or a lot of newer bikes that have designs that don't necessarily have a middle bar off the post to hang from.

Folks - I got the Kuat and it combines well with the Thule XT 4 person I had (though that is not recommended and I am not recommending it). Took it out this weekend and had fun.
