Just for baseless speculation - thoughts on whether MY28 might bring different colors as soon as 2nd production year? Did that happen for R1?

Default choice is Glacier White but have time to wait - would like to see Red Canyon, Compass Yellow, and/or California Dune just based on R1s I've seen. But who knows, maybe I'd just stick w/ white if none of them work on R2, gotta see it live to know, etc.

Too true. There was talk of limited color runs for the R2, but not anytime soon. Maybe once they start being produced at the Georgia plant in late 2028? They’ll need to have a paint department for the R2 and R3. Can’t wait to see them both!

This is a bummer. Why did Rivian advertise these colors if they’re not available yet? Does “later” mean the end of the year?

Given how they have released things, I'd say later does in fact mean end of year. Absolute bummer indeed.

I wouldn't count on anything except Gen3 autonomy hardware (as previously promised) by end of year. We are looking at one year to ramp up before they start adding or doing things differently IMO.

Good point. I think RJ said 18 months to fully ramp the R2, so if deliveries start in June then by the end of 2027 tracks. That’s probably when I’ll take delivery unless they’re willing to buy my lease out sooner.

Very disappointing. We were all-in on a Borealis Launch Edition despite all the hubbub around Gen 3 hardware/LIDAR. Will figure out how to pivot when the configurator comes online. Hopefully we'll have some clarity from that. We were OK taking Gen 2 hardware, but with the lack of colors, sounds like we'll either 1) Get a color we aren't thrilled with (and maybe wrap it) or 2) Wait for both Gen 3 hardware and Borealis.

I was at the Atlanta block Party this past weekend and I had a chance to see the R2 in person. While I was there I remembered some folks asking about how the new Catalina Cove Blue color for the R2 compares to the existing R1 Rivian Blue. So for what it's worth, here's a photo of the Rivian Blue (water bottle) against the Catalina Cove. Please note, the lights inside the Rivian showroom are kind of dim.

Esker Silver is a light option and they already have two shades of green. If they offered three shades of green I think some here might have an aneurism.
