Just noticed while you can still find inventory borealis, it no longer shows up when building a Tri or Quad either model…

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.

Maybe they ran out of purple paint? I didn’t think it was a limited run, like California Dune.

That seems like an exceedingly short amount of time. When did it first become available? December?

I haven't gotten mine yet but my order for a Borealis R1T remains unchanged. So far...

I'm wondering if this might be a cost savings move.

I doubt they got many takers. While its a striking look, few are actually going to want to live with a purple car.

Agreed. I like bold colors. I used to have an orange sports car. While I know some people loved this, I personally did not like it all and didn't think it Rivian would sell a lot of them - although it is apparently sold out.

I did hear anecdotally from my SC they had a lot of issues with Dune where people felt like the color wasn’t what they expected and decided to swap them, wondering if that happened here as well.

Yeah, hopefully they just made the right amount to meet demand and shut it down.

They were pretty clear that it was a limited time color.
When I talked to the sales person in December while placing an order for one, he said they were expecting to make at most a couple thousand Ts & Ss.

I'm sure it happens when you have to buy limited edition sight-unseen, but I would think Dune is pretty safe, it's totally one of those muted, earthy, Rivian-y colors.

I actually bought Storm Blue sight unseen when it was first released, and I was unprepared for how green it was (I thought it was more blue, from the photos/videos). Not a big deal honestly, but I made peace with taking a gamble before I ever saw the car.

A conspicuous bright purple car is an entirely different story to a lot of people, I would think.

It's very much a love-it-or-hate-it color. I love mine, but it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.

It was announced December 3rd; in Seattle the first deliveries were at the end of December (apparently somebody in Bothell got the first R1S Dec 27th, I got the R1T Dec 28th).

I agree, but who knows, people are complicated!

Funny you say that about Storm blue. I just switched from forest green and from what I saw online I was worried it was too muted/grey for me, and now I am really happy with it because it has those great green tones you mentioned, like the ocean here in Maine actually. Quite good. Photos do no justice for any of the rivian colors from my experience.

One of the best properties of the company in my opinion, real commitment to thoughtful colors.

They didn't exactly give the market a ton of time to decide. It may not have had high uptake, but people were only just finding out about it. Almost none are actually on the road for people to see and go "hey, I want one in that color!"
