I'm traveling up I-5 to NorCal this coming week and would like to borrow a NACS adapter (still haven't received mine from Rivian) just in case I need to use a Tesla charging station.

I'm in the Marina del Rey area.

Thanks!

Thanks for the offer Hal but your location is a little far for me to pick up. Anyone else have an adapter I can borrow? thanks!

Why not just use the RAN? Plenty along I-5 and all over much of CA

Agreed with @R1Tacoma there's several RAN stations along the 5 between the two metro areas and the RANs will be way cheaper than Crazy Uncle Elon.

If you're coming up the 101, there's an EA Station in Paso Robles I've used several times. Although it's only four stalls, all four have always been running with no issues when I've been there.

It's my first long road trip and was nervous about having timely access to non-tesla charging stations. Thanks for reassuring me that RAN stations are well enough built out along the 5. Previous trips (in my ICE vehicle) I noticed really long lines at Electrify America and other non-Tesla stations, honestly looked horrifying to have to wait that long for a charge.

Currently all RAN stations (except the brand new Joshua Tree outpost) are only available to Rivian vehicles. The NACS adaptor definitely opens up a ton more reliable chargers, but for an I-5 trip just plan out your stops at RAN chargers and you should be good.

I've only had to wait at a RAN station maybe twice? And those were at absolute peak travel times for that area. The only bummer with most RAN stations is that each set of 3 dispensers shares a single 300kW feed; if the station is busy, you'll almost certainly not hit peak charging speed as a result.

If you acted sooner you probably could have bought and received a A2Z Typhoon Pro via expedited shipping. It’s more substantial than the official one by Tesla. Plus, it doesn’t hurt to have a backup adapter in the future. But like others said, there are plenty of non-Tesla charging opportunities along the i-5 corridor.

Or if you'd ordered the center console organizer from the gear shop, you'd get a NACS adapter shipped to you by accident... like me and several others here.

I've done this trip (for me south OC to Santa Clara) in my R1S multiple times.

Driving around 80mph most of the way on 5, after Magic Mountain, first stop is at Buttonwillow RAN. Always a spot open. Use the facility across the street at T/A and stretch your legs. There is a Subway and Starbucks at the RAN.

Next stop at Santa Nella Inn RAN. charge as much as you can here so you're not "empty at the destination. Grab lunch at In-n-Out just near by. Drive onto Gilroy then onto the Bay Area on 101. As a side note, Santa Nella Inn is a very nice place and they have an interesting hydro-green house where they grow all their veggies that they serve.

You wanting Tesla adapter is Very Valid. Once at your destination, there is no RAN, unless what you mean the NoCal is near Mantica or Corte Madera. You'll need to deal with the usual suspects of crappy charging stations, if you don't have access to Tesla SC.

Safe travels.

I would bet money that you could very seamlessly make this trip with little to no waits using just the RAN lol. Anecdotally, I’ve only seen a fully packed out RAN maybe twice in almost two years.
