@Rivian312 Why is it not a practical daily driver for you?

I’m more interested in El Cap but admire Limestone.

I haven’t consider the R1T but do like it. I have never owned a pickup. I’m an SUV guy but it’s tempting.
Get the truck, it's a much better ride.

Overall the R1S exceeded my expectations but a couple of things related to city life are giving me pause:
- Chicago traffic is brutal and unpredictable and I rely (too much probably) on Waze for my daily commute. I'm not sure that the Rivian system is where it needs to be. To give you an example I've used Waze for my commute for 6 years and the first time I used the Rivian system, it took me a way I've never gone before - in 6 years. What initially showed a 35 min commute took an hour in the end.
- I'm originally from NYC and an agressive driver, I find the size of handling of the R1S to be a bit harder for zipping in and out of traffic than my Q7 (although that may be a good thing)
- I probably haven't experimented enough but I find my adaptive cruise on my Q7 to be smoother than the Rivian in traffic, I've found the Rivian adaptive cruise control to be a bit jerky in traffic.

I think what it comes down to is that the R1S is an amazing SUV that is incredibly capable off road and capable on road as well but is still at the end of the day a 7000 pound truck that probably handles as well as technology possible but will still never have the highway ride of an Audi Q7 which if I'm honest, is more of a glorfied station wagon but a pretty slick one at that. That is where I am torn.

I saw the out of spec review where he rode in the dual and quad R1T back to back. Stated the dual was noticeably quieter. I have no personal experience with it. I think motors, insulation, and of course number will impact sound.
I got to drive a dual over the weekend and its significantly quieter than my quad.

Of course two motors are going to be quieter than four. Everyone complaining about how “loud” the quads are must be in literal hell being in any ICE vehicle, considering the quad is downright silent in comparison.

I’m at the same state. Someone here shared this Munro video which was interesting. I’m sure most have seen this. I’m still undecided but if the right deal comes along I’m sure I’ll jump on a Quad.
Very helpful vid
Thx
My mind is closer to be set !

What about speed accel torque etc did it feel significantly inferior ?
I drove a performance Dual motor max Pack.

You have to put it into sports mode and low ride height to get the full acceleration. When launching(left foot on brake, right foot on accelerator, release brake) it feels like the quad but when accelerating normally it feels like a less-powered quad. The power delivery feels like a plane taking off vs a roller coaster doing down hill (quad). In all-purpose mode it felt more like the quad in conserve mode.

The less motor noise is what impressed me more. My quad had alot of motor noise and it seemed to be getting louder and louder with each visit to the service center.
