These are things you should ask Rivian directly. But I don't think Rivian would let you purchase in CA, only to be delivered to another. There may be state laws involved as well.Well, this changes things. Will this work? I'm gonna leave Pasadena as my home location for purposes of the wait list. I have always planned to get the R2 in 2027, for the reason mentioned in the last post.
But, what I should do is take delivery in Denver, get the permit you mention and drive the car to Taos and register it in NM. I have a Chevy Bolt, purchased in Santa Fe and registered in NM (I like the black plate with red and green chiles).
My questions are: 1. Will Rivian be unhappy if I have listed my location as Pasadena on the wait list but then request delivery in Denver? 2. Do I pay any sales tax in CO when I take delivery there? 3. What about the first post that mentions no out of state purchases?
